The Clinton Street bridge, which carries state Routes 15, 18 and 66 over the Maumee River in downtown Defiance, will be replaced with a structure that will carry four lanes of traffic. The new structure will also provide better access across the bridge for pedestrians, bicyclists and those with disabilities.
Construction on the $8.3 million project will begin in 2019. The bridge is expected to closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic in mid-February for approximately nine months during construction. The Great Lakes Construction Company, Hinckley, will serve as the general contractor.
LIVE VIEW OF THE PROJECT
This view of the Clinton Street bridge in Defiance is courtesy of Sensory Effects Powder Systems which graciously agreed to allow a camera to be mounted on their facility on the north side of the Maumee River. The camera provides a new image every 15 minutes or so, but we suggest to refresh your screen to be sure you're viewing the latest image. This is a great way to view the progress of the bridge replacement which is set to begin later this month.
