A project study area was developed that allows for the investigation of the full range of transportation problems and potential
environmental impacts of SR 664 within the vicinity of Old Man’s Cave.
The section of SR 664 being investigated stretches from east of the ranger station/campground entrance to west of the road
leading to the park lodge, and encompasses 0.92 miles of roadway. The study area includes areas north and south of existing
SR 664, including the area north of parking lots and south to the rim of the Old Man’s Cave gorge. The study area’s western portion
extends west of the road leading to the lodge and the eastern portion extends east of the SR 664 and Culp Road intersection.
The project study area encompasses a total of 107 acres.
