What may start as a relatively simple dispute on a construction project often tends to become more complicated as time progresses. Lingering disputes have a tendency to chip away at the relations between the Contractor and Department project personnel. As such, it is vital that the Engineer or Supervisor work expeditiously to either resolve the dispute at the project level or, if the dispute cannot be resolved at that level, to escalate the dispute to the appropriate level. The Department’s Dispute Resolution and Administrative Claim Process and Dispute Review Board Process are designed to facilitate the resolution of disputes before they become claims.
