2. Sampling and/or Inspection Requirements:
Materials are required to meet 703.02 requirements and freeze thaw - durability testing [ASTM C666] for use in concrete pavements.
The Aggregate Section of OMM will maintain a list of approved sources on it's website at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ConstructionMgt/Materials/Pages/AggregateInformation.aspx. The Concrete section performs the testing. Freeze Thaw Test results are good for one to two years, depending on the test results.
Freeze thaw Tests take at least 8 weeks. Freeze-thaw samples shall be sent at least 90 days prior to intended use, and shall be accompanied by a TE-31. Samples shall consist of 3 bags of the proposed aggregate. One bag shall be graded at the District lab and sent to the OMM Aggregate Section. Update the Responsible Location with "TL" and Lab with the appropriate Lab code "AG". The TE-31 will have the Sample ID of the sample tested by the District. The remaining bags shall be sent to OMM Aggregate Section and forwarded to OMM Concrete Section for testing and analysis.
