2. Sampling and/or Inspection Requirements:
All gaskets shall be inspected after they are delivered to the project for dimensions and condition. (Field)
Gaskets shall be rejected for the following:
Surface checking, weathering or other deterioration prior to installation.
Any cross-section of the gasket that is not dense, homogeneous and free of porosity, blisters, pitting and other imperfections.
A gasket containing a splice that does not withstand 100% elongation over the part of the gasket which includes the splice with no visible separation of the splice while rotating the spliced area 180 degrees in both directions while stretched. This stretching and examination can be done by standing on the gasket and pulling it.
Any gasket requiring stretch of more than 30% of its original circumference when seated.
Qualified Product List (QPL)
Only material that is approved as a Qualified Product may be used. To verify, refer to Qualified Product List (QPL) on the OMM website http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ConstructionMgt/Materials/Pages/QPL.aspx
No sample is required.
