706.13 Precast Catch Basin and Inlet Tops and Temporary Barrier
2. Sampling and/or Inspection Requirements:
Certified Plant Sampled and Tested Material:
All precast manhole riser sections and tops, precast catch basin and inlet tops and temporary barrier are manufactured and certified under Supplement 1073. The Certified Supplier list is on the OMM website @ http://www.dot.state.oh.us/Divisions/ConstructionMgt/Materials/Pages/default.aspx. Materials from non-certified suppliers will not be accepted.
Inspect all precast manhole riser sections and tops, precast catch basin and inlet tops and temporary barrier upon delivery to the project for dimensions and condition. Dimensions shall be checked for compliance with the applicable Standard Construction Drawing or detail shown in the Plans. (Field) A TE-24 Shipping Notice must be received with the material.
Casting or fabricated steel frames embedded in the concrete or covers are considered part of the piece listed on the TE-24.
If the material does not fulfill the requirements, it shall be rejected. Send a copy of the TE-24 to the Det and notify OMM, Concrete Section.
Sections shall be substantially free of fractures and surface roughness. Individual pieces may be rejected for the following:
Fractures or cracks passing through the wall except for a single end crack that does not exceed the depth of the joint.
Defects that indicate imperfect proportioning, mixing and molding.
Surface defects indicating honeycomb or open texture.
Damaged or cracked ends or areas, where such damage would prevent making a satisfactory joint.
Any continuous crack having a surface width of 0.01-inch or more and extending for a length of 12 in. or more regardless of the position in the section wall.
Each precast section shall be clearly marked with the following:
"MH" for manhole risers or tops
"CB" for catch basin tops and standard drawing number *
"I" for inlet tops and standard drawing number and size. *
"PCB-RXX" where XX indicates the year cast for temporary barriers **

* markings are to be plainly visible prior to installation but are not to be visually objectionable after installing.
** markings are for barriers conforming to standard drawing mc-9.2 for barriers conforming to mc-9a, contact OMM for marking requirements.
