|709.00 Epoxy Coated Reinforcing Steel|
2. Sampling and/or Inspection Requirements:
Coating is not provided as a separate product of reinforcing steel. Actual coating for each lot is based on quality control coating records showing millage. Supplement 1068 defines certification requirements for acceptance of reinforcing steel, welded wire mesh, dowel bars and mechanical reinforcing steel splice (RWWS) materials meeting ODOT specifications, 509.08 and 709.00 through 709.14.
For a list of certified suppliers visit the OMM website at http://www.dot.state.oh.us/contract/cert_fabricators_suppliers.htm
Epoxy coated mesh delivered on TE-24 should be field inspected and found free of coating damage exceeding 1% of the surface area per linear foot of each wire. Each TE-24 should include a bill of lading providing a detailed breakdown of each shipment of reinforcing materials. Report to OMM any missing documentation and the company who shipped the materials.
Field checks of thickness can be made. The coating should be 7 to 12 mils. Field checks of coating thickness should not be used for acceptance of materials not provided under a TE-24 as enough readings cannot be made.
No sample is required. The project may sample any materials they question. Provide sample and copy of documentation to laboratory.
3. Methods of Test:
