History of the Office of Aerial Engineering goes back to March 1946, when the Ohio Highway Department established the Aerial Surveying and Mapping Unit. Over the years, the organization and the name of this unit have changed several times, but the main mission remained the same: Conducting aerial surveys to provide data for road design.
