Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices
2012 Edition (current)
January 13, 2012
Description
The Ohio Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (OMUTCD) establishes statewide standards for the design and use of traffic control devices on any street, highway, bikeway or private road open to public travel in Ohio, as well as private roads open to public travel. The current OMUTCD is the 2012 Edition published January 13, 2012, effective April 12, 2012.
The current OMUTCD is available below for viewing or downloading. The file is set up for printing as a two-sided document. As noted below, the OMUTCD will also be available in paper and CD format.
Legal Authority
Section 4511.11 of the Ohio Revised Code requires that all local authorities in their respective jurisdictions, and owners of private property open to public travel, place and maintain traffic control devices in conformance with the OMUTCD.
Miscellaneous Information
A major changes list detailing the changes between the 2005 Edition OMUTCD (Revision 2) OMUTCD and the 2012 Edition should be available from this page in about a week.
The national MUTCD, and files related to the last revision of it, can be viewed using the "National MUTCD" link in the menu on the left side of this web page.
The previous 2005 Editions of the OMUTCD, the 2003 Edition and Revision 21 of the 1972 Edition of the OMUTCD are also available on-line using the link in the menu on the left.
For those interested primarily just in that portion of the manual that deals with Temporary Traffic Control, Parts 1 (General), 5 (Low-Volume Roads), and 6 (Temporary Traffic Control) have been reprinted together in a separate publication.
There are some new features, such as a Flashing Yellow Arrow signal indication, being introduced with this revision. There will be additional information added here, and links to some demonstrations of the new devices.
Several errors in the 2012 OMUTCD have been noted and a list of them is provided below. This list is provided solely for information purposes and does not constitute official changes to the OMUTCD at this time. These errors will be addressed in a future revision of the Manual.
