Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM)
Description
This manual is a consolidation of ODOT traffic engineering policies, guidelines, standards and best practices. It is intended that all ODOT traffic engineering information is found in this manual, or is cross-referenced from it. Information from several previous publications and documents have been incorporated into this one, including the Traffic Control Application Standards Manual, the Traffic Control Design Information Manual and the Construction Guidelines Manual for Traffic Control Devices. The TEM was originally published in October 2002 with an effective date of December 2, 2002.
The TEM is available below for viewing or downloading. The files are set up for double-sided printing.
Legal Authority
The TEM is referenced in the OMUTCD; however, although other jurisdiction are encouraged to use this manual as a reference, it is primarily intended for use by ODOT.
Miscellaneous Information
The TEM is updated quarterly, as needed, in January, April, July and October. Copies of individual revisions sets as they have been issued are available from the TEM Revision Sets page (see the link in the menu on the left of this page). These Revision Sets include detailed records of the revisions made with each revision of the manual. Archived copies of the Complete TEM are also available using the link in the menu on the left of this page.
