Each training course is specially designed to provide the latest regulatory requirements and updates on the ODOT process for completing NEPA documents for transportation projects.

Registration for all OES classes will open approximately 60-90 days prior to the class start date. Please sign up for the OES Mailing list (in the right column of this page) to receive notices when registration opens. Please check back if the class you were interested in is full. Additional classes are being scheduled soon.

Public InvolvementNov. 29, 2017​This 1-day training class is based on ODOT's new public involvement manual.

Project Development Process (PDP)Sept.19, 2017This course provides a comprehensive view of ODOT's Project Development Process (PDP) and will provide participants with an understanding of the decision elements of the PDP and how to make project decisions within the PDP.

Section 106Sept. 20, 2017This one-day course is an overview of the implementing of regulations of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
Section 4(F) & 6(f)Sept. 21, 2017Topics will include CFR 774 Section 4(f), nationwide and FHWA/ODOT programmatic agreements, use of the handbook and appropriate checklists and the writing and assembly of approvable Section 4(f)/6(f) documents.
Categorical ExclusionSept. 27-28, 2017This is a two-day training course designed for consultants, local public agencies, and ODOT staff working on environmental documents for state and local transportation projects.
Ecological TrainingNov. 8, 2017This training is an overview of ecological documentation and coordination with an emphasis on the methods and techniques required for completion of ecological survey reports (ESRs) for ODOT projects.
Waterway PermitsNov. 9, 2017​Focusing on the Waterway Permits process, topics include relevant environmental laws, application process, timeliness and the roles of regulatory agencies in the process.
Purpose & NeedNov. 16, 2017This training class was developed to better inform and educate participants of the requirements to prepare a "Purpose and Need Statement" and what is expected in a "high quality" Purpose and Need Statement.

NEPA - Managing the Environmental and Project Development Process TrainingTBD​This is a one-week class designed to help Project Managers gain a better understanding of the various aspects of planning and project development and to guide them in making better NEPA process decisions when working on transportation projects

The Office of Environmental Services provides Toolkits to accompany most, not all, training courses that we offer. Toolkits are closely aligned with the class curriculum plan as well as providing helpful links to partner agencies such as FHWA and AASTHO. And, in many cases, toolkits provide supplemental information to OES manuals.
