FHWA Safety Program
Federal Highway Administration's Office of Safety works to reduce the number of crashes on U.S. roadways and the severity of crash impacts. Within the broad highway safety mission, the Office of Safety's principal focus is on highway engineering. They support the five development, testing and implementation technologies and pcrocedures to improve the physical safety of the nation's roadway infrastructure.​
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's mission is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving large trucks and buses. FMCSA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and employs more than 1,000 individuals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, dedicated to improving bus and truck safety and saving lives.
Federal Railroad Administration
Federal Road Administration was created to promulgate and enforce rail safety regulations; to administer railroad assistance programs; and to conduct research and development in support of improved railroad safety and national rail transportation policy.
Governors Highway Safety Association
Governors Highway Safety Association focuses on the human behavioral aspects of highway safety. Such areas include occupant protection, impaired driving, speed enforcement, aggressive driving, and pedestrian and bicycle safety, as well as highway safety issues relating to older and younger drivers, drowsy driving and distracted driving.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
NHTSA investigates safety defects in motor vehicles, sets and enforces fuel economy standards, helps states and local communities reduce the threat of drunk drivers, promotes the use of safety belts, child safety seats and air bags, investigates odometer fraud, establishes and enforces vehicle anti-theft regulations and provides consumer information on motor vehicle safety topics.
National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse
National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse provides information and referrals to government agencies, public and private organizations, and the general public concerning the safe and effective operation of traffic work zones. The clearinghouse is a cooperative partnership between the American Road & Transportation Builders Association and the Texas Transportation Institute.
Ohio Department of Public Safety
Ohio Department of Public Safety is responsible for a variety of safety issues including homeland security, highway safety, alcohol enforcement, emergency medical services and disaster recovery. It is the umbrella agency for the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Emergency Management Agency, Emergency Medical Services and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Ohio Rail Development Commission
Ohio Rail Development Commission coordinates freight and passenger rail systems in Ohio.  The commission: assists businesses locating or expanding in Ohio with rail spurs and other rail infrastructure; helps rehabilitate light density branch lines on small short-line and regional railroads; assists in the acquisition and continued operation of branch lines; addresses special rail problems such as mainline congestion and assisting businesses with rail-related issues; and maintains Ohio’s readiness to move toward intercity passenger rail service.
Operation Lifesaver
Operation Lifesaver is a national, non-profit education and awareness program dedicated to ending tragic collisions, fatalities and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and on railroad rights of way.
Ohio State Highway Patrol
Ohio State Highway Patrol is an internationally accredited agency dedicated to professional law enforcement service. The Patrol provides statewide traffic services, including enforcement of traffic laws and emergency response to keep roadways safe.
Transportation Safety Institute
Transportation Safety Institute is a federal cost recovery agency that develops and conducts worldwide safety, security, and environmental training, products, and/or services for both public and private sectors. The Research and Special Programs Administration (RSPA) is the Institute’s parent organization within the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Bureau of Transportation Statistics
U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics is an office of the U.S. DOT, which provides statistics on all modes of transportation from airports to highways.

ODOT's comprehensive roadway safety campaign aims to educate Ohioans on how to use the roads safety -- whether behind the wheel, behind the handlebars or on foot. Visit the Every Move You Make Keep It Safe site for helpful and informative tip cards and multimedia material related to safety issues such as distracted driving, roadway departure, intersection safety and safe routes to school.​

County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO)

The County Engineers Association of Ohio (CEAO) represents Ohio's 88 County Engineers.​

Ohio Association of Regional Councils

The Ohio Association of Regional Councils includes 23 agencies serving 1,525 municipalities, villages, townships and counties, encompassing more than 10.5 million Ohioans across the state. Most of Ohio's regional councils are federally mandated Metropolitan Planning Organizations.​

PUCO - Motor Carrier

Commercial transportration companies in Ohio are public utilities under the jurisdiction of the PUCO.  The PUCO registers motor carriers and ensures they adhere to state and federal safety standards.​
