The Office of Statewide Planning & Research is committed to serving as a central resource center for transportation research, plans, and forecasting reports. These resources are of value to the public, other ODOT offices, and partnering agencies across the State. Working from a basis of collaboration, the office strives to produce high-quality, accurate, and innovative products that support the core mission of ODOT while providing guidance and tools that position ODOT to be efficient, effective, and competitive in the future. This commitment will help advance the Department’s goals of preserving the current transportation system, improving the efficiency of the transportation system, increasing safety, and strategic network expansion.
The functions of the office are to develop, document, and monitor comprehensive statewide and metropolitan planning processes; regularly update Access Ohio, the statewide long-range transportation plan; deliver forecasting services to ODOT offices and partnering agencies; provide necessary coordination on transportation policy issues with other agencies and the public; manage the 7th largest state transportation research program in the country; maintain a vast repository of transportation documents; and perform various economic and demographic analyses.
The office’s staff perform these functions through three sections: Planning, Research (including ODOT’s Library), and Modeling & Forecasting.
