Chapter 2 - Roles and Responsibilities
The organizations within ODOT and its employees play a large part in the success of the research process. Some project related duties such as project definition, monitoring, and evaluation fall within the scope of individual projects and are primarily the responsibilities of the sponsoring Division/Office, the subject matter experts and the project managers assigned to the project. Other duties (e.g.: project prioritization, funding approval, and direction of implementation) have department wide impact and require the involvement of Executive Leadership; the Innovation, Research and Implementation Section (IRIS); and other department managers. General roles and responsibilities for key groups involved in the research process are described in the following sections of this chapter. Additional details can be found in the chapters that describe the specific phase of the process.
