The Statewide Planning Section maintains an existing inventory of all modes of transportation, identifies gaps in the existing inventories, manages statewide and regional planning efforts including the statewide the long range transportation plan, and works collaboratively with other agencies and ODOT offices to ensure federal transportation dollars are being spent in compliance with federal law to maintain an integrated transportation network.
Additionally, this Section serves as a liaison between local municipalities, MPOs, other governmental agencies, and the Department.
These core functions are undertaken through the following programs: Bike and Pedestrian, MPO Planning, Maritime & Freight Planning, and Long-Range Planning. Other functions are completed through coordination with ORDC, the ODOT Office of Aviation, and the ODOT Office of Transit.
