Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail The Ohio and Erie Canal follows the Cuyahoga River from Cleveland to Akron, then the Tuscarawas River to Bolivar. There is a continuous 37-mile long trail in place between Cleveland and Akron. South of Akron the path is not continuous, and open sections are varying lengths. The towpath is unimproved south of Bolivar. It is planned to eventually extend the towpath to New Philadelphia, the end of the canal. |

Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation, Cuyahoga County The path currently begins at Harvard Road and 49th St., and follows 49th St. south to the Cleveland Metropark named Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation. It passes a visitor center and crosses a wetland. The southern limit of the National Park is at Indian Mound, at Bath Road, in Summit County. The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Train offers a baggage car equipped to carry bicycles for bike and hike trips (call 800-468-4070).
