Facility & Equipment Preventive Maintenance Plans

 Preventive Maintenance Plan Requirements

Facility and Equipment Preventive Maintenance Plans are required for all FTA-funded assets.  The requirement is included in the FTA circular C 5010.1D, page IV-31, 11/01/2008, at http://www.fta.dot.gov/documents/C_5010_1D_Finalpub.pdf

Specifically, the circular states: "The grantee is required to have a written vehicle maintenance plan and facility/equipment maintenance plan. These plans should describe a system of periodic inspections and preventive maintenance to be performed at certain defined intervals."

These Facility and Equipment Preventive Maintenance Plans are provided only as examples.  ODOT is not promoting any specific plan.  Each transit system should create and customize their own facility and equipment preventive maintenance plan to adequately maintain the assets at their system.  Each system must document the preventive maintenance activities according to the intervals described in their plan.  Preventive maintenance intervals must be at least as strict as the manufacturer's recommended preventive maintenance intervals.  ODOT will monitor transit system compliance at ARRA reviews, Quality Assurance Reviews, site visits, and audits.
