Open to eligible participants from anywhere in Ohio. Intended for those who will be training drivers, not for drivers themselves. The course covers the eight hour DRIVE: Transporting Older and Disabled Passengers course for new and inexperienced drivers and the four hour DRIVE Refresher Course for experienced drivers and runs from Wednesday, October 14 until Thursday, October 15 from 8:30am-5:00pm both days. An optional Train the Trainer session covering two optional DRIVE modules (Transporting Passengers with Mental Illness and Transporting Passengers with Developmental Disabilities) is Friday, October 16 from 8:30am-2:30pm. DRIVE courses fulfill standards for ODOT subrecipients as well as quality assurance standards for Older Americans Act Title III services and for PASSPORT services. This session will cover information on training skills as well as how to use the DRIVE curriculum. Registration link available soon.

Open to eligible participants from anywhere in Ohio. Intended for drivers with no previous experience transporting older and/or disabled passengers. Participants will develop a sensitivity to the transportation needs of older passengers and passengers with disabilities as well as demonstrate correct passenger assistance techniques.
Speaker: Paula Taliaferro, MGS, LSW is a part-time Outreach & Education Specialist with COAAA who has presented over 550 workshops related to aging issues since 1996. She has worked in the field of aging since 1977 in institutional and community-based settings.
