The Canalway Ohio Scenic Byway was Ohio's second nationally designated scenic byway. The byway starts at I-77 in Tuscarawas County and ends 110 miles north, at Cleveland's Carter Road Lift Bridge. This byway approximates the path of the old Ohio and Erie Canal from Dover to Cleveland. When traveling from the south, exit I-77 at SR 211 (exit 83) in Dover. This is where the southern end of the byway begins. When traveling from the north, exit I-90 at US 422 (exit 171B) in Cleveland. Proceed west on US 422, and turn left onto W. Eagle Avenue and travel west to Carter Road. Turn right onto Carter Road, where the northen end of the byway begins.
