Gateway to Amish Country

The gentle rolling hills and valleys of northeastern Knox County present the Gateway to Amish Country Byway traveler an ever-changing panorama of visual delights. The byway visitor will encounter two of Ohio’s most scenic rivers, the Kokosing and Mohican, the state’s longest covered bridge, the Bridge of Dreams, and two exceptionally scenic trails that serve hiking, biking and horseback riding.

The main line of the 30 mile byway begins at its southern end at the Knox County - Licking County line on US 62 and continues through Brinkhaven where it ends at the Knox County - Holmes County line. As the traveler continues northeast on US 62, the Amish Country Byway begins as he or she enters Holmes County. A Gateway to Amish Country Byway spur begins in Danville at the junction of US 62 and SR 514, continues along SR 514 to the Knox County - Holmes County line, and then connects to the Amish Country Byway.
