ORDC's mission is to plan, promote and implement the improved movement of goods and people faster and safer on a rail transportation network connecting Ohio to the nation and the world. The mission is to be accomplished through a coordinated freight and passenger rail system which is an integral part of a seamless, intermodal transportation network contributing to Ohio's quality of life and economic development.

The purpose of this organization is to promote the Ohio rail tourism industry through education, information and cooperation of mutually benefiting projects by Ohio rail tourism operators and excursion sponsors, railroad companies, historical societies, museums, and displays.

Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit, international continuing public education program first established in 1972 to end collisions, deaths and injuries at places where roadways cross train tracks, and on railroad rights-of-way.

Amtrak’s mission is to provide America with safe and reliable intercity rail passenger service in an economically sound manner that exceeds customer expectations.

The Midwest is working as one region to connect its residents through improved high-speed and intercity passenger rail service.
