2011 Construction Season Highlights for ODOT District 5

Description : This project consists of extending the westbound ramp at the SR 16 Interchange with Cedar Street in the City of Newark.  The work includes realignment of ramp intersections with Cedar Street and installation of signals at these locations.  The replacement of the existing bridge decks and related work on structures over Cedar Street, Ohio Central Railroad/Bike Trail and North Fork of the Licking River is also included.  One lane will be closed in both eastbound and westbound directions.    Lanes will be closed using temporary concrete barrier and arrow boards.  The off-ramp from SR 16 westbound to Cedar Street will be closed for 10 days.  Traffic will be detoured to O Bannon Avenue and East Main Street.  The Bike Trail will be closed during the replacement of the bridge deck over the Ohio Central Railroad/Bike Trail.  Traffic will be detoured to Everett Avenue, O Bannon Avenue, and East Main Street. This project consists of upgrading 0.85 miles of SR 79 in the City of Heath, by widening and resurfacing the roadway, realigning the Andover/Oberlin and Putnam/Radian intersections, installing median traffic divider islands, and adding right turn lanes to improve safety, capacity and traffic flow.  Route: State Route 79. County: Licking. PID:  79015 Est. Start: June 2011. Est. End:  October 2011.Fairfield & Licking I-70 Resurfacing. This project consists of the resurfacing of US 22/40 from its intersection with 5th Street in the City of Cambridge, continuing through the downtown area and following US 40 out to the I-77 interchange.  Various enhancements in downtown Cambridge include lighting and signal upgrades, decorative sidewalks, new park benches and trash receptacles.  Route: U.S. Route 22/40. County: Guernsey. PID:  79079. Est. Start:  May 2011. Est. End:  October 2011U.S. 36 Resurfacing. This Mill & Fill project consists of resurfacing portions of US 36 from upper Gilchrist Rd. (TR 245) to the Coshocton County Line, closing one lane of 2-lane highway using flaggers to maintain 2-way traffic. Route: U.S. Route 36. County: Knox. PID:  81229. Est. Start:  June 2011. Est.
