Kirk Slusher of Lima assumed the position of deputy director for the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 on January 10, 2011.
Originally from Antwerp, Slusher graduated from Ohio Northern University with a bachelor of science in civil engineering. Immediately following graduation, Slusher started working for the Ohio Department of Transportation in District 1 as a design engineer. He worked in both design and planning until 1997 when he assumed the District 1 Planning Administrator position. He also served the district as construction monitor in the district construction department.
During his tenure as the Planning Administrator, he effectively managed the district's capital allocation budget which averages $30 million per year. He led the preliminary development efforts for all of the district’s major projects including the U.S. 24 Fort to Port relocation and expansion project, the reconstruction of I-75 through Allen County, as well as several major interchange reconstruction projects.
He enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering, golfing, ice hockey, basketball and rock climbing.
