Area Rest Areas to be Closed for Maintenance

LIMA (Friday, April 22, 2011) –Maintenance work will close the restroom facilities at the U.S. 30 roadside parks near Cairo beginning next week, and at the Interstate 75 parks near Findlay in the near future.

Beginning Monday, the Ohio Department of Transportation plans to close the restroom facilities at the eastbound U.S. 30 roadside park near Cairo to allow for cleaning of 10,000-gallon, underground water tanks.

Once work is completed on the eastbound side, work will then close the U.S. 30 westbound restroom facilities. Crews will then move to the northbound park on Interstate 75 near Findlay, and then to the southbound side.

The cleaning is expected to take one week at each site to complete.

The parks themselves will remain open during the procedure as temporary toilet facilities will be available.

“This is a regular maintenance item that is required approximately every two years in order to maintain good water quality at our parks,” said Kirk Slusher, Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 deputy director.
