Highway Construction
Week of June 11, 2018

The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1, which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions, and unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

ALLEN COUNTY
 
Interstate 75 between Bentley Road and state Route 103 will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Work will occur on I-75 over Riley Creek in Allen County and on the county Road 15 bridge over Interstate 75 in Hancock County. The project is expected to be completed in late September. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.
 
The project will have the following anticipated impacts to traffic:
  • Interstate 75 is restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone through noon Friday, June 8, during work on the Riley Creek structure. A maximum width restriction of 13 feet is in place during the lane restriction.
  • Variable speed limits are in place through the work zone. Electronic messages boards display the posted, legal speed limit, which will be reduced during construction operations and presence of workers in the area. The posted speed limit on the electronic boards is enforceable by law.
 
Interstate 75 southbound entrance ramp at Bluelick Road will close June 25 for approximately seven days for a bridge repair project. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
Interstate 75 northbound between state Route 81 and Napoleon Road will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 65 between Grand Avenue and state Route 115, Lima, is reduced to one lane through the work zone at various locations for work related to a roadway rehabilitation project that will last through the summer. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
The following impacts to traffic are occurring:
  • Traffic has been switched on state Route 65 between Northern Avenue and Jacobs Avenue, just north of Casa Lu Al Restaurant, to the southbound side of the roadway while widening work on the northbound side of the road takes place.
    • One lane of traffic is maintained in both directions. The turn lane is not available.
    • Traffic delays can be expected during the project.
 
State Route 81 from Wapak Road to Eastown Road, Lima, is no longer restricted as curb ramp work is mostly complete. Resurfacing of the route will occur in the coming weeks. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 196 between state Route 117 and the Auglaize County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY
 
State Route 15 at Christy Road, just west of Defiance, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for one day during the week, likely Monday or Tuesday, for bridge deck repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Roadway Services department, with traffic control by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 15 between the city of Defiance and the Putnam County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is expected to continue through early June. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
State Route 2 between Hicksville and the Williams County line, except its overlap with state Route 249, will be reduced to one lane through the work zones for pavement resurfacing. Work is expected to continue through late July. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
State Route 111 between the city of Defiance and the Paulding County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 24 between state Route 15/state Route 18 and Baltimore Road in city of Defiance will be reduced to one lane through the work zones for bridge repairs beginning Sunday, June 3. Work will begin in the westbound direction, then continue in the eastbound direction. Work is being performed by Uretek, Tomball, Texas.
 
The project will also have the following impact to traffic.
·        U.S. 24 eastbound entrance ramp at Baltimore Street will close June 11 for two days for bridge repair. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 westbound and U.S. 127 back onto U.S. 24 eastbound. (see map)
 
    
HANCOCK COUNTY

State Route 103 between county Road 9 and township Road 65, between the villages of Jenera and Arlington, closed May 23 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic is detoured onto U.S. 68, U.S. 30 and state Route 235 back to state Route 103. Work is being performed by Miller Contracting Group, Ottoville. (see map)
State Route 186 between state Route 235 and U.S. 224, south of McComb, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
U.S. 224 between township Road 276 and county Road 23 in West Independence closed May 21 for approximately 45 days for a bridge overlay project. The project also includes the replacement of approach slabs on the bridge, the addition of curtain walls and upgrades to guardrail. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 12 and U.S. 23 back onto U.S. 224. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Inc., Napoleon. (see map)
U.S. 224 between the Putnam County line and the city of Findlay will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
State Route 330 over state Route 15, Vanlue, closed May 29 for approximately four months for a bridge deck replacement. Work is being performed by E.S. Wagner, Oregon.

The project will have the following impacts to traffic:
·        State Route 330 over state Route 15 closed May 29 for approximately four months.
o   State Route 330 northbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound, U.S. 23/state Route 103, and state Route 15 westbound back onto state Route 330. (see map)
o   State Route 330 southbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 westbound, state Route 37 and state Route 15 eastbound back to state Route 330. (see map)
·        Lane restrictions on state Route 15 approaching the bridge are in place through the duration of the project.

State Route 698 over Interstate 75, between Rawson and Findlay, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for bridge repair beginning June 11. Shoulder restrictions on Interstate 75 beneath the state Route 698 overpass are to be expected during the project, which should last through late June. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
HARDIN COUNTY
 
State Route 31 between Bales Road and county Road 160, south of the city of Kenton, is now open following a railroad repair project.
 
State Route 53, just south of Patterson, closed April 2 for approximately 90 days for a bridge deck replacement. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 31, U.S. 68 and state Route 81 back onto state Route 53. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge Company, Sidney. (see map)
 
U.S. 68 between state Route 81 and township Road 40, south of Dunkirk, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for work being done in preparation for a chip seal project. Work is being done by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 195 between county Road 110 and township Road 100 (East Cottonwood Road), just south of McGuffey, closed June 6 for approximately 30 days for a resurfacing and widening project. Traffic is detoured onto county Road 110, state Route 235 and state Route 309 back onto state Route 195. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. (see map)
 
State Route 292 between state Route 31 and Ridgeway will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for work being done in preparation for a chip seal project. Work is being done by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 309 between the Allen County line and the city of Kenton will be reduced to one lane through the work zones for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
PAULDING COUNTY

3, approximately a half mile south of state Route 114, will close June 18 through September for a bridge replacement project over Hagerman Creek. The project is part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Transportation. The program provides funding for the repair or replacement of municipal and county bridges. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge Company, Sidney.
 
State Route 49 just north of state Route 111 will close June 18 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 111, U.S. 127 and U.S. 24 back to state Route 49. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage. (see map).
 
State Route 49 throughout Paulding County will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 111 approximately two miles east of U.S. 127 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 66 throughout Paulding County will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 111 between U.S. 127 and state Route 637 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work began May 16 and is expected to continue through early June. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
U.S. 30 between the Indiana state line and state Route 49 north is restricted to one lane in both directions through the work zone for a rehabilitation project that includes resurfacing and concrete joint repair. Work will continue through the summer. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 637 between Road 118 and Road 138, northwest of Melrose, closed April 18 for approximately 75 days for ditch relocation. The project also includes the relocation of a 72-inch pipe beneath county Road 126 to match the flow of the new ditch. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 613 and state Route 66 back onto state Route 637. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina. (see map)
 
County Road 11 under U.S. 24, just east of the Indiana state line, is restricted to one lane through the work zone for the repair of a retaining wall. Flaggers will maintain traffic. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Inc., Napoleon.
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
State Route 634 between state Route 613 and the village of Continental will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is expected to continue through early June. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
Pavement repair will restrict traffic to one lane along the following routes. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
  • State Route 114 between State route 694 and U.S. 224     
  • State Route 115 between U.S. 224 to state Route 694
  • State Route 108 from state Route 15 to the Henry County line
·        U.S. 224 between the Van Wert County line and the Hancock County line
 
State Route 66 over U.S. 30, northwest of Delphos, closed May 22 for approximately 21 days for bridge repair. The ramps at the interchange of state Route 66 and U.S. 30 remain open. The project also includes resurfacing on state Route 66 between Delphos and Ottoville and on various routes within Delphos and Ottoville. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
The project is anticipated to have the following impacts to traffic.
  • State Route 66 over U.S. 30 closure
    • Southbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30 westbound to Middle Point-Wetzel Road to U.S. 30 eastbound back to state Route 66. (see map)
    • Northbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30 eastbound to Fifth Street to U.S. 30 westbound back to state Route 66. (see map)
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.

VAN WERT COUNTY
 
U.S. 30 between the Indiana state line and state Route 49 north will be restricted to one lane in both directions through the work zone for a rehabilitation project that will include resurfacing and concrete joint repair of U.S. 30. The project will continue through early July. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 66 over U.S. 30, northwest of Delphos, closed May 22 for approximately 21 days for bridge repair. The ramps at the interchange of state Route 66 and U.S. 30 remain open. The project also includes resurfacing on state Route 66 between Delphos and Ottoville and on various routes within Delphos and Ottoville. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
The project is anticipated to have the following impacts to traffic.
  • State Route 66 over U.S. 30 closure
    • Southbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30 westbound to Middle Point-Wetzel Road to U.S. 30 eastbound back to state Route 66. (see map)
    • Northbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30 eastbound to Fifth Street to U.S. 30 westbound back to state Route 66. (see map)
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
 
State Route 709 between county Road 103 and Goodwin Road, west of Venedocia, closed May 14 for approximately one month for the replacement of three culverts. Work is expected to last through mid-June. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 116, state Route 81 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 709. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage. (see map)
 
WYANDOT COUNTY

State Route 53
over U.S. 23/U.S. 30, north of Upper Sandusky, closed May 14 for approximately 45 days for a bridge repair project. Work is being performed by R&I Construction, Tiffin.
  • State Route 53 southbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 23/U.S. 30 westbound, state Route 199 and U.S. 23/U.S. 30 eastbound back onto state Route 53. (see map)
  • State Route 53 northbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 23/U.S. 30 eastbound, county Road 330 and U.S. 23/U.S. 30 back onto state Route 53. (see map)
  • Lane restrictions in both directions of U.S. 23/U.S. 30 below state Route 53 continue throughout the duration of the project.
  • The exit and entrance ramps at the interchange of state Route 53 and U.S. 23/U.S. 30 will remain open.
 
State Route 103 between township Highway 30 and county Highway 37 will close June 18 for approximately five days for culvert replacement at three locations. Traffic detoured onto state Route 53 and state Route 67 back to state Route 103. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage. (see map)
