County road 18 in Putnam county closed at Ohio 613
Culvert issue requires closure
LIMA (Monday, January 14, 2013) – County Road 18 approximately three miles east of Continental at Ohio 613 just west of Ohio 15 is closed for an undetermined amount of time due to a failure of a culvert beneath the roadway.
Kirk Slusher, Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 deputy director, said heavy rainfall over the weekend caused separation in a culvert beneath County Road 18 leaving the roadway unstable.
The roadway was closed to traffic on Sunday evening. The closure is on the south side of Ohio 613. Ohio 613 remains open.
The culvert is maintained by the state of Ohio because it services the drainage for Ohio 613. ODOT is currently in the process of assessing the work which must be done to repair the culvert. “Until the water in the area recedes, we cannot make a determination of the work or time required to make the repair,” said Slusher.
