Highway Construction
Week of August 15, 2016

The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. Allen County
 
Interstate 75 from the Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, will have occasional lane closures throughout the year during the final year of the reconstruction of the interstate. Current and upcoming impacts to traffic are as follows:

  • Milling of the pavement throughout the entire project area in preparation for paving is under way and is reducing traffic through the work zone both northbound and southbound. This operation will continue over the weekend.

  • Nighttime paving of the final course of asphalt, berm work and striping throughout the entire project area will begin Monday, August 15. Work will occur from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
    • Paving operations will occur from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. each day and are expected to continue for approximately one month.
    • Construction trucks will be entering and exiting frequently throughout the project area during the next several weeks.
    • Posted speed through the work zone will be lowered while work is taking place.

  • Traffic patterns on Ohio 65 beneath Interstate 75 will continue to shift for the next two weeks during completion of the concrete pavement.

  • Traffic on I-75 north and south of the Ohio 65 interchange area is now traveling in a normal pattern. All barrier wall through this area has been removed.
 
  • Heavy construction truck traffic will be present throughout the project for the next several weeks, especially in the area of the Ohio 65 interchange and the Yoder Road area, near the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio complex.

 Additional Allen County projects:
 
Ohio 117 near Coon Road will be reduced to one lane through the work zone on Tuesday, August 16 for a drainage structure installation project. Work is being performed by the Allen County Engineer.
 
Ohio 696 between Beaverdam and the Putnam County line will be restricted with traffic maintained during the week for a chip and seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 309 will be impacted by several projects throughout the construction season as follows:
 
·       Ohio 309 (Elida Road) reconstruction of the curb and gutter, upgrade of traffic signals and resurfacing of the roadway from Robb Avenue to Cole Street, Lima, is essentially complete with little impact to traffic occurring.

·       Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Eastown Road to U.S. 30, including the village of Elida, is restricted for widening, curb and gutter installation, drainage improvements and resurfacing. The project will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation LLC, Celina.
 
The following impacts are occurring or upcoming. Traffic patterns will change frequently:
 
o   Paving is under way from Elida to U.S. 30, Delphos, and will continue for the next two weeks. Berm work and pavement striping will then follow.
o   Ohio 309 eastbound from Greenlawn Avenue to Eastown Road is maintained with two lanes westbound and one eastbound. The turn lane is maintained as well.
§  Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction at various locations through this area for drainage installation. The restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Traffic delays should be expected.
§  Traffic patterns will change frequently through this section.
 
·       Ohio 309 (Harding Highway) from Bowman Road, Lima, to Ohio 235, Ada, closed June 6 until mid-August for culvert replacements at several locations. Access to area residences will be maintained. Through traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 235, Ohio 81 and Interstate 75 back to Ohio 309. Work is being performed by R.D. Jones Excavating, Harrod.
o   The entire length of roadway is closed to through traffic. Those not residing within or traveling to a business within the project area will be subject to fines by law enforcement.
o   Major work at all 12 culvert locations has been completed. Finish work and paving is now occurring.
o   The entire route is expected to reopen to traffic by Friday, August 12. Some finish work may require lane restrictions at particular locations once the route has been reopened to traffic.

Ohio 65, Ohio 81, Ohio 117 and Ohio 309 pavement repair and resurfacing project, Lima, is essentially complete with few impacts to traffic occurring.
 
Ohio 117 and Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) intersection realignment and widening project and construction of left-turn lanes on Ohio 117 began June 30. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. The following impacts to traffic are occurring or upcoming:
·       Wapak Road at the intersection of Ohio 117 is now open.
·       Ohio 501 south of Ohio 117 closed on Monday, July 25 for approximately 30 days. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 117, Ohio 198 and back to Ohio 501.
 
Defiance County
 
U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
 
Upcoming closures related to the project are currently scheduled as follows:
·       U.S. 127 over U.S. 24 near Cecil will be closed beginning August 15 for approximately one week for pavement repairs. All ramps at the interchange will remain open. Traffic will be detoured on U.S. 24 westbound, south on Ohio 49, U.S. 24 eastbound and back to U.S. 127. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction.

·       Weekend ramps closures at the following locations will begin Friday, August 19 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, August 22 at 6 a.m.
o   Westbound entrance and exit ramps at U.S. 24 and Ohio 15/18.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange and back.
o   Eastbound entrance and exit ramps at U.S. 24 and Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Hancock County
Interstate 75 from just south of Ohio 235 north of Bluffton to just south of the County Road 60 overhead near Rawson is reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound, until Labor Day for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.
 
U.S. 68 from the Hardin County line to the U.S. 30 interchange restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Mansfield.
 
U.S. 30 ramps at U.S. 68 and Ohio 37 in Hancock County, and County Road 330 in Wyandot County will be closed for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Mansfield. The ramps will be closed according to the following schedule:
·       At the U.S. 68 interchange, the following ramps have been reopened:
o   Entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 30 from U.S. 68
o   Exit ramp from eastbound U.S. 30 to U.S. 68
·       At the U.S. 68 interchange, the following ramps closed August 10 for seven days:
o   Entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 30 to U.S. 68
§  Traffic detoured onto U.S. 68, U.S. 30 westbound, Ohio 235 back to U.S. 30 eastbound.
o   Exit ramp from westbound U.S. 30 to U.S. 68
§  Traffic detoured onto U.S. 30 westbound, Ohio 235 back to U.S. 30 eastbound
·       All ramps at the Ohio 37 interchange with U.S. 30 will close August 18 for seven days.
·       All ramps at the County Road 330 interchange will close August 25 for seven days.
 
Interstate 75 between Perrysburg and County Road 99 north of Findlay will have the following restrictions through the fall during reconstruction and widening:
 
·       Through November, overnight lane restrictions, generally from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. Through December, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. 

·       Through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between County Road 220 and Township Road 142, is closed for bridge work over I-75. 
 
Hardin County

The following roads will be restricted with traffic maintained for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
·       Ohio 53 from Township Road 114 to Township Road 28.
·       Ohio 67 from the city limits of Kenton to the Wyandot County line.
·       Ohio 273 from the Logan County line to the city limits of Mount Victory.
·       Ohio 701 from Ohio 68 to the intersection with Ohio 309.
 
Ohio 309 (Harding Highway) from Bowman Road, Lima, to Ohio 235, Ada, closed June 6 for approximately 70 days for culvert replacements at several locations. Access to area residences will be maintained. Through traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 235, Ohio 81 and Interstate 75 back to Ohio 309. Work is being performed by R.D. Jones Excavating, Harrod.
·       The entire length of roadway is closed to through traffic. Those not residing within or traveling to a business within the project area will be subject to fines by law enforcement.

Paulding County

Ohio 111 from the west corporation of Paulding to Ohio 49 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 49 from the south corporation limit of Payne to U.S. 30 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.

Ohio 111 between Road 21 and the Indiana line has been reopened following a roadway repair.
 
Ohio 114 between Road 79 and Road 95 is now open following a roadway repair.
 
Putnam County
 
Ohio 189 between Road 20-S and Road 20 will be closed beginning August 15 for approximately 5 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 190, U.S. 224, Ohio 115 and back to Ohio 189. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 696 between Ohio 12 and the Allen County line will be restricted with traffic maintained for a drainage repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 65 between East Broadway Street and Turner Street, West Leipsic, is open following a railroad repair.
 
Ohio 65 from Columbus Grove to Leipsic, excluding the village of Ottawa, is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The section from the village of Leipsic to the village of Ottawa is essentially complete. Work to finish the project will continue to restrict traffic at certain locations. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Ohio 12 through the village of Columbus Grove is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Van Wert County
 
U.S. 127 (Washington Street) between Fox Road and Ervin Road in the city of Van Wert closed April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses is maintained. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until fall. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.
·       The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Ervin Road intersection has been reopened.
 
U.S. 224 along the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30 to westbound U.S. 224 closed on July 25 for approximately 30 days for a slide repair project. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 30 east to the U.S. 127 interchange. Exit north on U.S. 127 to the U.S. 30 westbound entrance ramp and follow back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by Jutte Excavating, Fort Recovery.
 
 
 
 
Wyandot County
 
Ohio 103 bridge over U.S. 23/Ohio 15, south of Carey, is occasionally restricted to one lane for bridge repair work. Work is being performed by DOT Construction Corp., Canfield.
Ohio 231 from U.S. 30 to Ohio 103 will be restricted with traffic maintained during the week for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 37 between County Road 96 and Ohio 67 closed on August 1 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 67, Ohio 294 and back to Ohio 37. Work is being performed by Stevens Engineers & Constructors, Inc.
 
Ohio 53 from U.S. 23 to the Seneca County line, Ohio 67 from Ohio 53 to Township Highway 121, and Ohio 587 from Ohio 53 to the Seneca County line is reduced to one lane through the work zone for a pavement repair and resurfacing project. The project is nearing completion and is having minimal effect on traffic. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
 
U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound just west of County Road 128 is restricted to one lane through the work zone until late August during a culvert replacement project. Posted speed through the zone varies when workers are present.
·       County Road 128 both on the north and south side of U.S. 30 closed June 27 until late August.
 
U.S. 23 southbound at the U.S. 30 interchange, Upper Sandusky, may have occasional shoulder closures through the summer during a slope repair project. Work is being performed by Trucco Construction, Delaware.
