Highway Construction
Week of May 29, 2017
 
The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions and, unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

Note: No work will take place on the Memorial Day holiday

ALLEN COUNTY
 
Removal of pavement reflectors in preparation for tarring and chipping of the roadway will take place on the following routes. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 501, entire route through Allen County
·        State Route 198, entire route through Allen County
 
Interstate 75, state Route 103 will be affected at times for bridge deck replacements on Napoleon Road over Interstate 75, Beaverdam, and state Route 103 (Bentley Road) over Interstate 75, Bluffton. The following are upcoming impacts related to the project:
 
Napoleon Road
·        Napoleon Road bridge over I-75 closed May 22 for approximately four months
o   Traffic detoured onto Sugar Creek Road, Swaney Road and Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to Napoleon Road.
·        The northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to Napoleon Road will close May 30 for four months.
o   The ramp was initially to remain open. The closure became necessary due to bridge height limitations and weight capacities on local roads.
o   Traffic detoured north on Interstate 75, east on Lincoln Highway (state Route 696), south on Swaney Road and west on Sugar Creek Road back to Napoleon Road; or west onto Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to S. West Street in Beaverdam.
·        The entrance ramp to Interstate 75 southbound will remain open
·        Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 wishing to access state Route 696 are advised to do so via exit 135 (state Route 696/U.S. 30) at Beaverdam. No access to state Route 696 from Interstate 75 northbound at the Napoleon Road exit will be available.

Bentley Road (state Route 103)
·        The closure of two bridges on Bentley Road (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad north of Interstate 75) has been delayed and will now close June 5 for approximately four months.
·        Both the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Bentley Road will be closed, also beginning June 5 for four months.
o   Interstate 75 northbound traffic will be detoured to the state Route 103 interchange back to Bentley Road.
o   Interstate 75 southbound traffic will be detoured to the state Route 103 interchange with Interstate 75
·        The northbound ramps at the interchange will remain open; however, no left turn onto Bentley Road from northbound Interstate 75 will be permitted.

Interstate 75
·        Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be periodically reduced to one lane at times beneath both the Napoleon Road and Bentley Road bridge structures during certain operations related to construction.
·        Lane closures will occur sporadically and are expected to occur mostly during daytime hours but some nighttime closures may occur.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY

U.S. 24 westbound at Baltimore Street, Defiance, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone beginning June 12 through early September for repair of the roadside slope. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers, Archbold.
 
State Route 66 between Bowman and Watson roads, south of Defiance, will close June 5 for approximately three months for a bridge deck replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 613, state Route 634, state Route 15 and Carter Road back to state Route 66. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Inc., Napoleon.
 
U.S. 127 between state Route 18 and township Road 34, south of Sherwood, closed April 24 for 60 days for culvert replacement at two locations. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24, state Route 15 and state Route 18 back to U.S. 127. The following locations will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
·        U.S. 24 westbound between Jewell Road and Independence Road, and state Route 281 and state Route 66.
·        State Route 2 from the Indiana state line to Hicksville.
 
 
HANCOCK COUNTY

Placement of berm stone will take place at the following locations with traffic maintained through the work zone. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
·        State Route 235 from the Hardin County line to the Wood County line
·        State Route 103 between Bluffton and state Route 698
 
U.S. 68 southbound exit ramp to U.S. 68 southbound over Eagle Creek at state Route 15, south of Findlay, closed May 15 for approximately two months for bridge repair. Traffic detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound to the state Route 37 interchange to state Route 15 westbound back to U.S. 68. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
 
State Route 12/state Route 235 overlap between state Route 235 and township Road 57, west of Benton Ridge over Moffitt Ditch, closed April 17 for approximately 60 days for repair of a bridge deck. Traffic on state Route 12 detoured onto state Route 235, Interstate 75 northbound back to state Route 12. State Route 235 traffic detoured onto Interstate 75 northbound to state Route 12 back to state Route 235. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
State Route 12 between Western Avenue and Glessner Street, Findlay, closed during daytime hours only from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day until early June for curb repair and replacement. The work is being administered by the city of Findlay.
 
HARDIN COUNTY
 
State Route 31 between township Road 265 and state Route 273 will close June 5 for 60 days for bridge repair at two locations: one over Panther Creek just south of township Road 206, the second over Wolf Creek north of township Road 265. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
State Route 195 over Cottonwood Ditch, south of McGuffey, between the north and south jog of Cottonwood Road, will close June 5 for 60 days for bridge repair. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
State Route 81 at township Road 55, east of Ada, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
 
 
PAULDING COUNTY
 
Ohio 637 in the village of Grover Hill will close June 5 for three months for road reconstruction. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 224, U.S. 127 and state Route 613 back to state Route 637. Work is being performed by Brenneman Excavating Inc. for the village of Grover Hill.
State Route 114 between Township road 187 and township Road 197, west of Mandale, is now open following a culvert replacement.

State Route 114 just east of state Route 66, Mandale, which was planned to close May 24 for three days for a culvert replacement has been delayed due to flooding.
 
State Route 66 from the Putnam County line to the Defiance County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for removal of pavement reflectors. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
State Route 65 between Road T-D and C-5, north of Leipsic, will close May 30 for approximately four days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 613, state Route 109 and state Route 18 back to state Route 65. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
VAN WERT COUNTY
 
State Route 637 between Feasby Wisener Road and Elm Sugar Grove Church Road will close May 30 for approximately four days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 224, state Route 66 and state Route 114 back to state Route 637. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 30 from just east of township Road 127 to just east of county Road 185 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone beginning May 30 for pavement and joint repair and drainage improvements. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
WYANDOT COUNTY
 
State Route 37 between state Route 53 and township Highway 63 will close June 5 for approximately five days for culvert replacements at two locations. Traffic detoured onto state Route 53, state Route 67 and state Route 294 back to state Route 37. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 231 between state Route 294 near Wyandot and county Highway 330 north of Nevada will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
 
U.S. 23 and state Route 15 near their interchange with state Route 103, south of Carey, reduced to one lane in each direction for work related to the removal of two bridge structures over abandoned railroads. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction Inc., Archbold. The following are upcoming traffic impacts related to the project:
·        The work zone will eventually extend from county Highway 97 to county Highway 95. Traffic patterns will change through the zone as the project progresses. This will likely occur in July.
·        The project also includes the resurfacing of U.S. 23 from just north of county Highway 97 to the state Route 103 interchange and of the ramps at state Route 103.

State Route 53 between state Route 103 and county Road 2, McCutchenville, closed April 24 for approximately six months for bridge replacements over Thorn Run and Tymochtee Creek. Traffic detoured onto state Route 103, state Route 231 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 53.
