Highway construction slows but continues
About District One
Week of October 31, 2016
The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot.

Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, is nearing completion. Current impacts to traffic are as follows:
A lane closure, both northbound and southbound, is scheduled to occur on Friday, October 28 between Ohio 65 and Fourth Street for installation of rumble strips. The closure will occur generally between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Grinding to smooth the pavement is scheduled to occur throughout the entire project area on Monday, October 31 and will restrict traffic both northbound and southbound. The restriction will be in place generally between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Repair of pavement damaged in an accident is scheduled to occur Tuesday, November 1 between National Road and Breese Road. The repair will restrict traffic both northbound and southbound and will occur generally between the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Signal work at the Ohio 65 interchange will take place with minimal effect on traffic expected.
Posted speed through the work zone will be lowered while work is taking place.
Additional Allen County projects:
both northbound and southbound from just north of Ohio 81 to Beaverdam will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
Ohio 309 (Elida Road)
from Eastown Road to U.S. 30, including the village of Elida, is restricted for widening, curb and gutter installation, drainage improvements and resurfacing. The project will continue through November. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation LLC, Celina.
The following impacts are occurring or upcoming. Traffic patterns will change frequently:
Traffic throughout the entire project area is restricted at various times and locations. Traffic patterns will change frequently.
Pavement milling, paving and concrete work will continue throughout the project area.
Motorists should be aware they will encounter many pieces of construction equipment moving into and out of the work zone.
Ohio 117 and Ohio 501 (Wapak Road)
intersection realignment and widening project and construction of left-turn lanes on Ohio 117 began June 30. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. The following impacts to traffic are occurring or upcoming:
Wapak Road at the intersection of Ohio 117 is now open.
Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) south of Ohio 117 is now open.
Widening work on Ohio 117 and final paving are complete. Finish work including intersection lighting will occur in the coming weeks and may require short-term lane closures.
on the south edge of the village of Hicksville closed for a storm drainage installation project. The route is expected to reopen some time during the week. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 2, Ohio 18, U.S. 127 and U.S. 24 back to Ohio 49. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Inc., Napoleon, for the village of Hicksville.
from just south of the city of Defiance to the Putnam County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
over Krouse Road is reduced to one lane through the work zone for a slope and shoulder repair project. The project will continue until late fall. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
throughout Defiance and Paulding County is minimally affected both eastbound and westbound at various locations to complete pavement markings following concrete pavement repair. Work will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
southbound exit ramp to Ohio 103 at Bluffton is now open.
between Ohio 235 and the Putnam County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
from Findlay to Arcadia, and from the southwest side of Fostoria to the Seneca County line will be occasionally reduced to one lane through the work zone for installation of pavement reflectors following a resurfacing project. The project will continue until early November. Work is being performed by M&B Ashpalt, Old Fort.
from just south of Ohio 235 north of Bluffton to just south of the County Road 60 overhead near Rawson is reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound, for a joint repair and resurfacing project. The project will continue until mid November. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.
The following notes are related to the project:
Paving both northbound and southbound will continue. Paving is expected to occur over the weekend and into next week.
Once paving is completed, installation of rumble strips, pavement striping and pavement reflectors will occur which will restrict traffic.
between Perrysburg and County Road 99 north of Findlay will have the following restrictions through the fall during reconstruction and widening:
Through November, overnight lane restrictions, generally from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. Through December, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County.
Through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between County Road 220 and Township Road 142, is closed for bridge work over I-75.
There are no projects scheduled during the week which will have a significant impact to traffic.
between County Road 115 and County Road 133 will close October 31 for five days for culvert replacements at two separate locations. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 127, Ohio 114 and Ohio 637 back to Ohio 111. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
Ohio 111/Ohio 637
approximately one mile east of Ohio 637 closed October 24 for approximately four days for a drainage installation project. Traffic on Ohio 111 detoured onto Ohio 637, Ohio 613, Ohio 66 and Ohio 637 back to Ohio 111. Traffic on Ohio 637 detoured onto Ohio 613 and Ohio 66 back to Ohio 637. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
Safe Routes to School project
which includes construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Canal Road between Kroos Drive and Harrmann Road, and also along the west side of Harrmann Road between Canal Road and the entrance to the Antwerp School began September 19 and is nearing completion. The project also includes new curbs, curb ramps, signage and crosswalk markings. The project is not expected to have a significant impact to traffic. The project will continue until late October. Work on the project is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
from Jackson Street to Garfield Avenue,
from Cherry Street to U.S. 127 in the village of Paulding is restricted for a resurfacing, handicap ramp installation and sidewalk project. Paving is complete. Installation of handicap ramps and sidewalks is nearly complete. The project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.
throughout Defiance and Paulding County is minimally affected both eastbound and westbound at various locations to complete pavement markings and pavement crack sealing following concrete pavement repair. Work will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus, and the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
at U.S. 30 north of Delphos closed October 24 for two weeks for culvert replacements at two locations. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 189, Ohio 66 and Fifth Street in Delphos back to Ohio 190. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County garage.
between the village of Ottawa and the Defiance County line, and
between the village of Continental and Ohio 15 is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The project is nearing completion and will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.
Van Wert County
westbound between Middle Point and Van Wert may have restrictions for equipment evaluation. Traffic control by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.
U.S. 127 (Washington Street)
between Fox Road and Ervin Road
in the city of Van Wert closed April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses is maintained. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until early November. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.
There are no projects scheduled during the week which will have a significant impact on traffic.
