Highway Construction
Week of July 30, 2018

The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1, which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions, and unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

ALLEN COUNTY
 
Interstate 75 between Bentley Road and state Route 103 will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Work will occur on I-75 over Riley Creek in Allen County and on the county Road 15 bridge over Interstate 75 in Hancock County. The project is expected to be completed in late September. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.
 
The project will have the following anticipated impacts to traffic:
  • Interstate 75 in both directions is restricted to one lane in each direction through the work zone at times. A maximum width restriction of 13 feet is in place during the lane restriction.
  • Beginning Sunday, July 29, at 7 p.m., Interstate 75 over Riley Creek will be restricted to one lane in both directions during bridge deck work. The restriction will remain in place until noon on Friday, Aug. 3.
  • Variable speed limits are in place through the work zone. Electronic messages boards display the posted, legal speed limit, which will be reduced during construction operations and presence of workers in the area. The posted speed limit on the electronic boards is enforceable by law.
 
Interstate 75 over Little Riley Creek, just north of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Shoulder restrictions are also possible during the project. A maximum width restriction of 12 feet is in place during the lane restrictions. Work will last through mid-August. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
Interstate 75 under Swaney Road, just north of Beaverdam, will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project that will begin Aug. 6. Shoulder restrictions are also possible during the project. Swaney Road over Interstate 75 will close Aug. 6 for approximately three weeks during the project. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
The following Interstate 75 ramps in Allen County will be affected by a concrete pavement and ramp repair project. Work is being performed by Shelly and Sands, Zanesville.
 
·        Interstate 75 northbound exit ramp to Bentley Road, Bluffton, closed July 23 for approximately five days. Traffic is detoured onto I-75 northbound and state Route 103 back to Bentley Road. (see map)
 
Interstate 75 shoulders near the U.S. 30 overpass, just south of Beaverdam, are closed in both directions during a culvert replacement project beneath the interstate. Little impact to traffic is expected. Work is expected to continue through August. Work is being performed by Beaverdam Contracting, Bluffton.
 
Interstate 75 southbound shoulder just north of state Route 696, near Beaverdam, will be closed Friday, July 27, beginning at 4 p.m. for utility work. The closure should last only through the evening. Work is being performed by Southern Traffic Services, Inc., Georgetown, Texas.
 
The following U.S. 30 ramps in Allen County will be affected by a concrete pavement and ramp repair project. Work is being performed by Shelly and Sands, Zanesville.
 
·        U.S. 30 eastbound entrance ramp from state Route 696, Beaverdam, will close 9 p.m. Thursday, July 26, until 6 a.m. Sunday, July 29. The ramp will close again at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, until 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5. During both weekend closures, traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 30 westbound and state Route 65 back to U.S. 30 eastbound. (see map)
 
State Route 65 between Grand Avenue and state Route 115, Lima, is reduced to one lane through the work zone at various locations for work related to a roadway rehabilitation project that will last through the summer. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
The following impacts to traffic are occurring:
  • Traffic on state Route 65 between Northern Avenue and Jacobs Avenue, just north of Casa Lu Al Restaurant, has been switched onto the northbound side of the roadway while widening work takes place on the southbound side.
    • One lane of traffic is maintained in both directions. The turn lane is not available.
    • Traffic delays can be expected during the project.
 
State Route 66 between the city of Delphos and the village of Spencerville will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 81 from Wapak Road to Eastown Road, Lima, is no longer restricted as curb ramp work is mostly complete. Resurfacing of the route will occur in the coming weeks. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 117/state Route 309 (Bellefontaine Avenue) between Shawnee Road and Elm Street, within the city of Lima, closed July 24 for approximately one week for work related to a railroad grade separation project under the Indiana & Ohio Railroad, and roundabout construction at the intersection of Elm Street and Bellefontaine Avenue. Traffic is detoured onto Interstate 75, Fourth Street, St. Johns Avenue and Pine Street back to state Route 309/state Route 117 (Elm Street). Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge, Sidney, for the city of Lima. For project information, visit www.golima.org.
 
State Route 696 between U.S. 30 and the village of Beaverdam will be restricted to one lane through the work zone during pavement resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly and Sands, Zanesville.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY
 
State Route 18 between the city of Defiance and the Henry County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 66 at Palmer Drive, within the city of Defiance, closed July 23 for approximately 30 days for the construction of a roundabout. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 637, state Route 111, Dietrick Street and Holgate Avenue back to state Route 66. Work is being performed by the city of Defiance. (see map)
 
State Route 111 between the city of Defiance and the Paulding County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
 
HANCOCK COUNTY

State Route 12 between Findlay and Fostoria will close during the week of July 30 in the following locations for the replacement of two culverts. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 224 and U.S. 23 back onto state Route 12. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage. (see map)
 
·        State Route 12 between township Road 238 and township Road 215, between Arcadia and Findlay, will close Monday, July 30. The closure should last approximately two days.
·        State Route 12 between county Road 330 and township Road 261, between Arcadia and Fostoria, will close upon the completion of the first culvert, most likely on Wednesday, Aug. 1. The closure should last approximately two days.
 
U.S. 68 between Liberty Street and the bridge over Buck Run, within the village of Arlington, closed July 9 for approximately four months for a reconstruction project. Local access will be maintained throughout the project. Work is being performed by Miller Contracting Group, Ottoville.
 
The following detours will be in place through the duration of the project.
·        U.S. 68 northbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30, state Route 235 and Interstate 75 back onto U.S. 68. (see map)
·        U.S. 68 southbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15, U.S. 23 and U.S. 30 back onto U.S. 68. (see map)
 
State Route 103 between the village of Bluffton and state Route 698 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for work being done in preparation for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 330 over state Route 15, Vanlue, closed May 29 for approximately four months for a bridge deck replacement. Lane restrictions on state Route 15 approaching the bridge are in place through the duration of the project. Work is being performed by E.S. Wagner, Oregon.

The following detours are in place through the duration of the project.
·        State Route 330 northbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound, U.S. 23/state Route 103, and state Route 15 westbound back onto state Route 330. (see map)
·        State Route 330 southbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 westbound, state Route 37 and state Route 15 eastbound back to state Route 330. (see map)

HARDIN COUNTY
 
State Route 67 between the city of Kenton and the Wyandot County line, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work associated with a pavement repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 235 just north of state Route 67, north of Roundhead, will close July 31 for approximately four days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 67, U.S. 68 and state Route 67 back onto state Route 235.
 
State Route 273 in the village of Mount Victory will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work associated with a pavement repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 309 between the Allen County line and the city of Kenton, including its overlap with state Route 235, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
 
 
 
PAULDING COUNTY
 
State Route 111 between state Route 49 and state Route 500 is restricted to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. The project is expected to be completed in early August. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 111 between state Route 49 and the Indiana state line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 49 between the village of Payne and the Defiance County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 49 between Bailey Street and Houck Street, within the village of Payne, will close Aug. 6 for approximately five days for railroad crossing repair. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 500 and state Route 111 back to state Route 49. Work is being performed by Safety Services Supply. (see map)
 
County Road 123, approximately a half-mile south of state Route 114, closed June 18 through September for a bridge replacement project over Hagerman Creek. The project is part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Transportation. The program provides funding for the repair or replacement of municipal and county bridges. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge Company, Sidney.
 
State Route 637 between Road 118 and Road 138, northwest of Melrose, is now open following a ditch relocation project.
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
 
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
 
State Route 65 between the southern village limits of Leipsic and the Henry County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The project also includes curb ramp construction within the villages of Leipsic and Belmore. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.

State Route 109 between Road G and Road F-6, north of Ottawa, is now open following culvert inspection and pavement repair.
 
State Route 109 between state Route 613 and the Henry County line, west of Leipsic, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
State Route 189 between township Road 16-S and state Route 115, west of Columbus Grove, will close July 30 for approximately five days for the replacement of two culverts. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 115, U.S. 224 and state Route 634 back to state Route 189. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage. (see map)
 
State Route 190 at township Road Q, north of Fort Jennings, will close Aug. 13 for approximately four months for the installation of a retaining wall along the Auglaize River. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 634 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 190. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction Company, Columbus. (see map)
 
State Route 613 between state Route 15 and county Road 7, between the villages of Continental and Leipsic, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.

VAN WERT COUNTY
 
State Route 116/state Route 117, just east of Louth Road north of Monticello, will close Aug. 8 for approximately three days for a culvert replacement project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage. (see map)
·        State Route 116 will be detoured onto state Route 117, U.S. 127 and state Route 81 back to state Route 116.
·        State Route 117 will be detoured onto U.S. 127, state Route 81 and state Route 116 back to state Route 117.
 
Bridge repair, pavement repair and resurfacing on the following routes within the Delphos and Ottoville area will have the following impacts to traffic. Work has been suspended for approximately two weeks. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
 
State Route 637 between Feasby Wisener Road and Harvey Road, south of Grover Hill, will close Aug. 6 for approximately two days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 224, state Route 66 and state Route 114 back to state Route 637. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage. (see map)
 
State Route 709 between Ohio City and state Route 116 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for final pavement markings associated with a paving project. Work is expected to be completed during the week. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
WYANDOT COUNTY
 
U.S. 30 between the Hancock County line and county Highway 330 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone for a resurfacing project beginning in the coming weeks. Work is being performed by American Pavements, Inc., Plain City.
State Route 37 between township Highway 66 and township Highway 58, southeast of the village of Forest, will close Aug. 13 for approximately five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 53, state Route 67 and state Route 294 back to state Route 37. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage. (see map)
 State Route 103 between U.S. 23 and township Road 199, just west of Carey, will close Aug. 6 for approximately five days for the replacement of four culverts. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 15 and state Route 37 back to state Route 103. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage. (see map)
