Highway Construction
Week of August 22, 2016

The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. Allen County
 
Interstate 75 from the Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, will have occasional lane closures throughout the year during the final year of the reconstruction of the interstate. Current and upcoming impacts to traffic are as follows:

  • Nighttime paving of the final course of asphalt, berm work and striping throughout the entire project area was delayed due to rain and will now begin Monday, August 22.
    • Lane restrictions both northbound and southbound will occur from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
    • Construction trucks will be entering and exiting frequently throughout the project area during the next several weeks.
    • Posted speed through the work zone will be lowered while work is taking place.

  • Traffic patterns on Ohio 65 beneath Interstate 75 will continue to shift for the next two weeks during completion of the concrete pavement. 

Additional Allen County projects:

 
U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound from Ohio 65 at Cairo to the Van Wert County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone at various locations for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Eastown Road to U.S. 30, including the village of Elida, is restricted for widening, curb and gutter installation, drainage improvements and resurfacing. The project will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation LLC, Celina.
 
The following impacts are occurring or upcoming. Traffic patterns will change frequently:
 
o   Paving from Elida to U.S. 30, Delphos, will be completed by the beginning of the week. Berm work and pavement striping will be completed by the end of the week.
o   Ohio 309 eastbound from Greenlawn Avenue to Eastown Road is maintained with two lanes westbound and one eastbound. The turn lane is maintained as well.
§  Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction at various locations through this area for drainage installation. The restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Traffic delays should be expected.
§  Traffic patterns will change frequently through this section.
 
Ohio 309 (Harding Highway) from Bowman Road, Lima, to Ohio 235, Ada, reopened to traffic on August 12.  Some finish work may require lane restrictions at particular locations. Work is being performed by R.D. Jones Excavating, Harrod.

Ohio 117 and Ohio 501 (Wapak Road)
intersection realignment and widening project and construction of left-turn lanes on Ohio 117 began June 30. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. The following impacts to traffic are occurring or upcoming:
·       Wapak Road at the intersection of Ohio 117 is now open.
  • Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) south of Ohio 117 closed on Monday, July 25 for approximately 30 days. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 117, Ohio 198 and back to Ohio 501. Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) is expected to reopen mid week.
  • Daytime lane closures will begin during the week on Ohio 117 for roadway widening work. Traffic will be maintained.
 
Defiance County
 
U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
 
Upcoming closures related to the project are currently scheduled as follows:
·       U.S. 127 over U.S. 24 near Cecil closed August 15 for approximately one week for pavement repairs. All ramps at the interchange remain open. Traffic detoured on U.S. 24 westbound, south on Ohio 49, U.S. 24 eastbound and back to U.S. 127. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction.

·       Weekend ramps closures at the following locations will begin Friday, August 19 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, August 22 at 6 a.m.
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18, Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange.
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
·       U.S. 127 from the interchange at U.S. 24 to a few hundred feet to the south will be closed August 22 for seven days for pavement repair. All ramps at the interchange will remain open.
o   Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24, Ohio 49 and Ohio 111 back to U.S. 127
·       Weekend ramp closures at the following locations will begin Friday, August 26 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, August 29 at 6 a.m.
o   Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, U.S. 24 westbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18
§  Traffic will be detoured to the Baltimore Street interchange
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Baltimore Street (County Road 424)
§  Traffic detoured to the Ohio 15/18 interchange
Hancock County
Pavement repairs will take place at the following locations with traffic restricted to one lane through the work zone. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage:
·       Ohio 235 between CR 313 and Mt. Cory and just north of Mc Comb 
·       Ohio103 between Mount Blanchard and the Wyandot County line
·       Ohio 568 between County Road 253 and the Wyandot County line
Interstate 75 from just south of Ohio 235 north of Bluffton to just south of the County Road 60 overhead near Rawson is reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound, until Labor Day for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.
 
U.S. 30 ramps at U.S. 68 and Ohio 37 in Hancock County, and County Road 330 in Wyandot County will be closed for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Mansfield. The ramps will be affected according to the following schedule:
·       All ramps at the U.S. 68 interchange are now open.
·       All ramps at the Ohio 37 interchange with U.S. 30 closed August 18 for seven days.
o   Traffic detoured onto Ohio 37 to County Road 330 back to U.S. 30.
·       All ramps at the County Road 330 interchange will close August 23 for seven days.
o   Traffic detoured onto County Road 330 to Ohio 37 back to U.S. 30.
 
Interstate 75 between Perrysburg and County Road 99 north of Findlay will have the following restrictions through the fall during reconstruction and widening:
 
·       Through November, overnight lane restrictions, generally from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. Through December, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. 

·       Through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between County Road 220 and Township Road 142, is closed for bridge work over I-75. 
 
Hardin County

The following roads will be restricted with traffic maintained for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
·       Ohio 53 from Township Road 114 to Township Road 28.
·       Ohio 67 from the city limits of Kenton to the Wyandot County line.
·       Ohio 273 from the Logan County line to the city limits of Mount Victory.
·       Ohio 701 from Ohio 68 to the intersection with Ohio 309.

Paulding County
 
U.S. 127 from Jackson Street to Garfield Avenue, and Ohio 111 from Cherry Street to U.S. 127 in the village of Paulding will be restricted for a resurfacing project beginning in late September. Once under way the project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.

Ohio 114 west of U.S. 127 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 127 just south of Paulding will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.

U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.

o   Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24, Ohio 49 and Ohio 111 back to U.S. 127
·       Weekend ramp closures at the following locations will begin Friday, August 26 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, August 29 at 6 a.m.
o   Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, U.S. 24 westbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18
§  Traffic will be detoured to the Baltimore Street interchange and back.
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Baltimore Street (County Road 424)
§  Traffic detoured to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Putnam County
 
Ohio 15 between the village of Ottawa and the Defiance County line, and Ohio 634 between the village of Continental and Ohio 15 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project which will begin during the week. The project will continue through mid October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.
 
Ohio 66 between T-O and T-N will close August 22 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 66, U.S. 224, Ohio 637 and Ohio 114 back to Ohio 66. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 15 just west of Ohio 108 will close August 22 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 108 and Ohio 613 back to Ohio 15. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 189 between Road 20-S and Road 20 was reopened to traffic on August 17 following a culvert replacement.
 
Ohio 696 between Ohio 12 and the Allen County line will be restricted with traffic maintained for a drainage repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 65 from Columbus Grove to Leipsic, excluding the village of Ottawa, is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The section from the village of Leipsic to the village of Ottawa is essentially complete. Work to finish the project will continue to restrict traffic at certain locations. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Ohio 12 through the village of Columbus Grove is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Van Wert County
 
U.S. 127 (Washington Street) between Fox Road and Ervin Road in the city of Van Wert closed April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses is maintained. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until fall. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.
·       The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Ervin Road intersection has been reopened.
  • The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Fox Road intersection is scheduled to close on September 7th for 40 days. Access to residences and businesses on Washington St. north of Fox Road will be available from the north via Ervin Road.
 
U.S. 224 along the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30 to westbound U.S. 224 closed on July 25 for approximately 30 days for a slide repair project. The ramp is expected to reopen mid week. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 30 east to the U.S. 127 interchange. Exit north on U.S. 127 to the U.S. 30 westbound entrance ramp and follow back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by Jutte Excavating, Fort Recovery.
 
Wyandot County
 
Ohio 103 bridge over U.S. 23/Ohio 15, south of Carey, is occasionally restricted to one lane for bridge repair work. Work is being performed by DOT Construction Corp., Canfield.
Ohio 37 between County Road 96 and Ohio 67 closed on August 1 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 67, Ohio 294 and back to Ohio 37. Work is being performed by Stevens Engineers & Constructors, Inc.
 
U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound just west of County Road 128 is restricted to one lane through the work zone until late August during a culvert replacement project. The project could be completed by the end of the week. Posted speed through the zone varies when workers are present.
·       County Road 128 both on the north and south side of U.S. 30 closed June 27. The road could reopen by the end of the week.
