Highway Construction
Week of Aug. 13, 2018

The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1, which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions, and unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

ALLEN COUNTY
 
The following bridge repair and culvert projects on or along Interstate 75 between the village of Beaverdam and the village of Bluffton will have the following impacts to traffic:
 
·        Interstate 75 between Bentley Road and state Route 103 is restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Work is occurring on I-75 over Riley Creek in Allen County and on the county Road 15 bridge over Interstate 75 in Hancock County. The project is expected to be completed in late September. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold. The project will have the following anticipated impacts to traffic:
o   Interstate 75 in both directions will have occasional lane restrictions throughout the duration of the project. A maximum width restriction of 13 feet is in place during the lane restriction.
o   County Road 15 (County Line Road) over Interstate 75 will close Aug. 13 for approximately 30 days for bridge repairs.
o   Variable speed limits are in place through the work zone. Electronic messages boards display the posted, legal speed limit, which will be reduced during construction operations and presence of workers in the area. The posted speed limit on the electronic boards is enforceable by law.
 
·        Interstate 75 over Little Riley Creek, just north of Beaverdam, is restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Shoulder restrictions are also possible during the project. A maximum width restriction of 12 feet is in place during the lane restrictions. Work will last through mid-August. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
·        Interstate 75 under Swaney Road, just north of Beaverdam, is restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project that began Aug. 6. Shoulder restrictions are also possible during the project. Swaney Road over Interstate 75 closed Aug. 6 for approximately three weeks as part of the project. Work is being performed by Complete General Construction, Columbus.
 
·        Interstate 75 shoulders near the U.S. 30 overpass, just south of Beaverdam, are closed in both directions during a culvert replacement project beneath the interstate. Periodic lanes closures on I-75 are occurring. The next scheduled occurrence will begin Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 a.m. until noon on Friday, Aug. 17. Work is expected to continue through August. Work is being performed by Beaverdam Contracting, Bluffton.
 
·        Interstate 75, both northbound and southbound, between state Route 81 and state Route 696 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 65 between Grand Avenue and state Route 115, Lima, is reduced to one lane through the work zone at various locations for work related to a roadway rehabilitation project that will last through the summer. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
The following impacts to traffic are occurring:
  • Traffic on state Route 65 between Northern Avenue and Jacobs Avenue, just north of Casa Lu Al Restaurant, has been switched onto the northbound side of the roadway while widening work takes place on the southbound side.
    • One lane of traffic is maintained in both directions. The turn lane is not available.
    • Traffic delays can be expected during the project.
 
State Route 81 from Wapak Road to Eastown Road, Lima, is no longer restricted as curb ramp work is mostly complete. Resurfacing of the route will occur in the coming weeks. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 117 between Bowman Road and the Auglaize County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 696 between U.S. 30 and the village of Beaverdam will be restricted to one lane through the work zone during pavement resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly and Sands, Zanesville.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY
 
State Route 15 (Clinton Street) over the Maumee River in the city of Defiance will have temporary, short-term traffic stops on Sunday, Aug. 19 during survey work on the bridge. Traffic stops will occur generally from 7 a.m. to noon and each occurrence will last up to 10 minutes. Traffic control will be provided by local law enforcement and the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage. Work is being performed by the ODOT District 1 survey department.
 
State Route 66 at Palmer Drive, within the city of Defiance, closed July 23 for approximately 30 days for the construction of a roundabout. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 637, state Route 111, Dietrick Street and Holgate Avenue back to state Route 66. Work is being performed by the city of Defiance. (see map)
 
HANCOCK COUNTY

Interstate 75 between Bentley Road and state Route 103 will be restricted to one lane at times for a bridge repair project. Work will occur on I-75 over Riley Creek in Allen County and on the county Road 15 bridge over Interstate 75 in Hancock County. The project is expected to be completed in late September. State Route 12 between Findlay and Fostoria is now open following two culvert replacements.
 
U.S. 68 between Liberty Street and the bridge over Buck Run, within the village of Arlington, closed July 9 for approximately four months for pavement reconstruction. Local access will be maintained throughout the project. Work is being performed by Miller Contracting Group, Ottoville.
 
The following detours will be in place through the duration of the project.
·        U.S. 68 northbound traffic is detoured onto U.S. 30, state Route 235 and Interstate 75 back onto U.S. 68. (see map)
·        U.S. 68 southbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15, U.S. 23 and U.S. 30 back onto U.S. 68. (see map)
 
State Route 330 between North Street and state Route 568, north of Vanlue, will be restricted to one lane for a resurfacing project beginning Aug. 13. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Tiffin.
 
State Route 330 over state Route 15, Vanlue, closed May 29 for approximately four months for a bridge deck replacement. Lane restrictions on state Route 15 approaching the bridge are in place through the duration of the project. Work is being performed by E.S. Wagner, Oregon.

The following detours are in place through the duration of the project.
·        State Route 330 northbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound, U.S. 23/state Route 103, and state Route 15 westbound back onto state Route 330. (see map)
·        State Route 330 southbound traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 westbound, state Route 37 and state Route 15 eastbound back to state Route 330. (see map)

State Route 568 between Bright Road and the Wyandot County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project beginning Aug. 13. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Tiffin.
 
HARDIN COUNTY
 
State Route 67 between the city of Kenton and the Wyandot County line, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work associated with a pavement repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 67 between the Auglaize County line and state Route 117 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project beginning Aug. 13. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 117 between state Route 67 and state Route 235 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project beginning Aug. 13. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 235 just north of state Route 67, north of Roundhead, is now open following a culvert replacement.
 
State Route 235 between the Logan County line and state Route 117 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 273 in the village of Mount Victory will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work associated with a pavement repair and resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
State Route 309 between the Allen County line and the city of Kenton, including its overlap with state Route 235, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
State Route 701 between state Route 309 and U.S. 68 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
 
PAULDING COUNTY
 
State Route 49 between Bailey Street and Houck Street, within the village of Payne, closed Aug. 6 for approximately five days for railroad crossing repair. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 500 and state Route 111 back to state Route 49. Work is being performed by Safety Services Supply. (see map)
 
State Route 66 between county Road 209 and county Road 196, near the Defiance County line, will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 111 between state Route 49 and state Route 500 is restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work associated with a resurfacing project. The project is expected to be complete in early August. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
County Road 123, approximately a half-mile south of state Route 114, closed June 18 through early September for a bridge replacement project over Hagerman Creek. The project is part of the Ohio Bridge Partnership Program, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Transportation. The program provides funding for the repair or replacement of municipal and county bridges. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge Company, Sidney.
 
State Route 500/state Route 613 overlap between township Road 47 and Riverview Drive, just east of the village of Payne, will close Aug. 27 for approximately five days for railroad crossing repair. The detours for each route are as follows. Work is being performed by Norfolk Southern Railroad, Norfolk, Virginia.
 
·        State Route 500 traffic will be detoured onto state Route 49 and state Route 111 back to state Route 500. (see map)
·        State Route 613 traffic will be detoured onto state Route 49, state Route 111 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 613. (see map)
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
 
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
 
State Route 65 between the southern village limits of Leipsic and the Henry County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The project also includes curb ramp construction within the villages of Leipsic and Belmore. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
State Route 109 between state Route 613 and the Henry County line, west of Leipsic, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Inc., Napoleon.
 
State Route 189 between township Road 16-S and state Route 115, west of Columbus Grove, is now open following a culvert replacement.
 
State Route 189 between Ottoville and Vaughnsville will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 190 at township Road Q, north of Fort Jennings, will close Aug. 13 for approximately four months for the installation of a retaining wall along the Auglaize River. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 634 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 190. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction Company, Columbus. (see map)
 
State Route 634 within the village of Continental will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for the installation of curb ramps and sidewalks beginning the week of Aug. 6. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.

VAN WERT COUNTY
 
U.S. 30 between Dull Robinson Road and Richey Road, west of the city of Van Wert, will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone for guardrail repair. Work will occur on Monday, Aug. 13. Work is being performed by the ODOT roadway services department.
 
 
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs and resurfacing.
  • State Route 66, state Route 190 and state Route 697 within the city of Delphos will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
  • State Route 66 and state Route 189 within the village of Ottoville will be restricted to one lane at various locations for pavement repairs.
 
State Route 116/state Route 117 overlap just east of Louth Road, north of Monticello, will close Aug. 13 for approximately three days for a culvert replacement project. The detours for each route are as follows. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.
 
·        State Route 116 traffic will be detoured onto state Route 117, U.S. 127 and state Route 81 back to state Route 116. (see map)
·        State Route 117 traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 127, state Route 81 and state Route 116 back to state Route 117. (see map)
 
State Route 116 will close Aug. 16 for approximately five days in the following locations. Both closures are for the culvert replacement projects. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.
 
·        Just south of Monticello Spencerville Road, west of Spencerville. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 197, state Route 66 and state Route 117 back to state Route 116. (see map)
·        Between Elgin Converse Road and Masters Road, east of Elgin. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 81, U.S. 127 and state Route 709. (see map)
 
State Route 637 between Feasby Wisener Road and Harvey Road, south of Grover Hill, is now open following a culvert replacement.
 
WYANDOT COUNTY

U.S. 23 near township Highway 103, south of Carey, will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone for bridge deck sealing. Work will begin Monday, Aug. 13 and last for approximately two days. Work is being performed by the ODOT roadway services department.
 
U.S. 30 between the Hancock County line and county Highway 330 will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone for a resurfacing project beginning Aug. 20. Work is being performed by American Pavements, Inc., Plain City.
 
State Route 37 between township Highway 66 and township Highway 58, southeast of the village of Forest, will not be affected during culvert repair. A full closure of the highway was originally scheduled to occur during the week of Aug. 13. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 103 between U.S. 23 and township Road 199, just west of Carey, closed Aug. 6 for approximately five days for the replacement of four culverts. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 15 and state Route 37 back to state Route 103. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage. (see map)
 
State Route 568 between the Hancock County line and the village of Carey will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Tiffin.
