Highway Construction
Week of September 26, 2016

The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. Allen County
 
Interstate 75 reconstruction from the Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, is nearing completion. Current and upcoming impacts to traffic are as follows:

  • Paving of the final course of asphalt both northbound and southbound has been completed.
  • Pavement grinding to provide smoothness, pavement striping, installation of pavement reflectors and placement of rumble strips will continue through the week, weekend and through next week.
    • Lane restrictions both northbound and southbound will occur from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
    • Construction vehicles will be entering and exiting frequently throughout the project area during the week.
    • Posted speed through the work zone will be lowered while work is taking place.

  • Yoder Road near the Orthopedic Institute of Ohio (OIO) closed Monday, September 19 for one week for a railroad crossing repair. The OIO facility is accessible from Yoder Road off of Ohio 65 but will not be accessible from Breese Road during the closure. The road is expected to reopen by Friday, September 23.

  • Traffic patterns on Ohio 65 beneath Interstate 75 will continue to shift during the upcoming week to complete the concrete pavement.

 Additional Allen County projects:
 
Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Eastown Road to U.S. 30, including the village of Elida, is restricted for widening, curb and gutter installation, drainage improvements and resurfacing. The project will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation LLC, Celina.
 
The following impacts are occurring or upcoming. Traffic patterns will change frequently:
 
o   Traffic patterns on Ohio 309 from Greenlawn Avenue to Pioneer Road will switch during the week to one lane westbound and two lanes eastbound. The turn lane will remain available.
§  Between Pioneer Road and Eastown Road, traffic is now reduced to one lane in each direction at various locations through this area for drainage installation. The turn lane remains available. The restrictions through this area will be in place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Traffic delays should be expected.
§  Traffic patterns will change frequently through this section.
 
Ohio 117 and Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) intersection realignment and widening project and construction of left-turn lanes on Ohio 117 began June 30. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. The following impacts to traffic are occurring or upcoming:
·        Wapak Road at the intersection of Ohio 117 is now open.
  • Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) south of Ohio 117 is now open.
  • Widening work on Ohio 117 and final paving are complete. Finish work including intersection lighting and seeding will occur in the coming weeks and may require short-term lane closures.
Defiance County
 
Pavement repair will occur at the following locations during the week with traffic maintained through the work zone. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage:
·        U.S. 24 eastbound between Flory Road and Bannerschool Road
·        Ohio 18 westbound just east and west of Ohio 281
·        Ohio 18 eastbound between County Road 188 and the Henry County line
·        Ohio 15 between Standley Road and the Putnam County line
 
U.S. 24 over Krouse Road reduced to one lane through the work zone beginning August 31 for a slope and shoulder repair project. The project will continue until late fall. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
 
U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
 
Upcoming closures related to the project are currently scheduled as follows:

·        U.S. 127 over U.S. 24 near Cecil is now open.

·        U.S. 127 from the interchange at U.S. 24 to a few hundred feet to the south is now open.

·        Ramp closures at the following locations have been completed:
o   Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, U.S. 24 westbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Baltimore Street (County Road 424)

·        U.S. 127 from the interchange at U.S. 24 to a few hundred feet to the north is now open.

·        The Ohio 66 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24 and the U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 66 are now open.

·        Weekend ramp closures at the following locations will begin Friday, September 30 and continue until Monday, October 3:
o   Ohio 281 (Domersville Road) entrance ramp to U.S. 24 westbound
§  Traffic detoured to Elliott Road to the Ohio 66 interchange back to U.S. 24
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 281 (Domersville Road)
§  Traffic detoured to the U.S. 6 interchange and back
o   U.S. 24 westbound exit ramp to U.S. 127
§  Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24 west, Ohio 49 to U.S. 24 eastbound back to U.S. 127.
o   Entrance ramp from U.S. 127 to eastbound U.S. 24
§   Traffic detoured onto U.S.127 to U.S. 24 westbound to Ohio 49 back to U.S. 24.

·        The following locations closed Wednesday, September 21 at 6 p.m. and will continue until Monday, September 26 at 6 a.m.:
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18, Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange.
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Hancock County
Ohio 12 eastbound (Fostoria Avenue) from Tiffin Avenue to Bright Road, Findlay, will be closed during daytime hours only, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning September 6 for installation of a storm sewer line. The project will continue for approximately two months. The project is being administered by the city of Findlay.
Ohio 12 from Findlay to Arcadia, and from the southwest side of Fostoria to the Seneca County line reduced to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project which began September 6. The project will continue for two months. Work is being performed by M&B Ashpalt, Old Fort.
The following restrictions related to the project are scheduled to begin during the week:
·        Ohio 12 through the village of Arcadia may be restricted at times through the work zone during installation of curbs, sidewalk and handicap ramps. Work will occur on Saturday, September 24.
·        Ohio 12 through Fostoria is reduced to one lane in each direction for pavement joint repair followed by pavement resurfacing.
 
Interstate 75 from just south of Ohio 235 north of Bluffton to just south of the County Road 60 overhead near Rawson is reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound, for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Paving will occur this Saturday in the southbound direction. The project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.
 
The following closures are related to the project:
·        Interstate 75 northbound exit ramp to Ohio 235 is now open.
·        Entrance ramp from Ohio 235 to northbound Interstate 75 is now open.
·        Interstate 75 southbound exit ramp to Ohio 235 closed September 20 for two days for pavement joint repairs on the ramp. The ramps are expected to reopen on Friday, September 23. Traffic detoured onto Interstate 75 southbound to the Ohio 103 interchange, Interstate 75 northbound back to Ohio 235.
·        Entrance ramp from Ohio 235 to southbound Interstate 75 closed September 20 for two days for pavement repairs on the ramp. The ramps are expected to reopen on Friday, September 23. Traffic detoured south on Ohio 235 to the Ohio 103 interchange back to Interstate 75 southbound.
·        Paving on the Ohio 235 ramps will begin during the week with traffic maintained.
·        The southbound rest area is now open.
·        The northbound rest area is now open.
 
Interstate 75 between Perrysburg and County Road 99 north of Findlay will have the following restrictions through the fall during reconstruction and widening:
 
·        Through November, overnight lane restrictions, generally from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. Through December, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. 

·        Through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between County Road 220 and Township Road 142, is closed for bridge work over I-75. 
 
Hardin County

Ohio 31 at Letson Avenue at the south end of the city of Kenton closed September 12 for 45 days for an intersection and sewer upgrade project. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 68, Ohio 273, Ohio 292 and Ohio 47 back to Ohio 31. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay, for the city of Kenton.
 
Paulding County
 
Ohio 500 between the Indiana state line and Ohio 49 will be closed on September 27 for three days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto County Road 1, Ohio 613, Ohio 49 back to Ohio 500.
 
U.S. 24 throughout Paulding County will be restricted both eastbound and westbound through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 66 from the Putnam County line to the Defiance County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.

Safe Routes to School project
which includes construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Canal Road between Kroos Drive and Harrmann Road, and also along the west side of Harrmann Road between Canal Road and the entrance to the Antwerp School began September 19. The project also includes new curbs, curb ramps, signage and crosswalk markings. The project is not expected to have a significant impact to traffic. The project will continue until late October. Work on the project is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
 
U.S. 127 from Jackson Street to Garfield Avenue, and Ohio 111 from Cherry Street to U.S. 127 in the village of Paulding will be restricted for a resurfacing project beginning in late September. Once under way the project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.

U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.

o   Entrance ramp from U.S. 127 to eastbound U.S. 24
§   Traffic detoured onto U.S.127 to U.S. 24 westbound to Ohio 49 back to U.S. 24.

·        The following locations closed Wednesday, September 21 at 6 p.m. and will continue until Monday, September 26 at 6 a.m.:
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18, Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange.
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Putnam County

Ohio 15 between the village of Ottawa and the Defiance County line, and Ohio 634 between the village of Continental and Ohio 15 is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The project will continue through mid October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.
 
Ohio 66 between T-O and T-N closed September 19 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 66, U.S. 224, Ohio 637 and Ohio 114 back to Ohio 66. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 696 between Ohio 12 and the Allen County line will be restricted with traffic maintained for drainage repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 65 resurfacing from Columbus Grove to Leipsic, excluding the village of Ottawa, and from the village of Leipsic to the village of Ottawa is complete.
 
Ohio 12 resurfacing through the village of Columbus Grove is complete.
 
Van Wert County
 
U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound between Middle Point and Delphos will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm repair work. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 127 (Washington Street) between Fox Road and Ervin Road in the city of Van Wert closed April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses is maintained. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until fall. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.
·        The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Ervin Road intersection has been reopened.
  • The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Fox Road/Ohio 116 intersection closed on September 7th for 40 days. Access to residences and businesses on Washington St. north of Fox Road is available from the north via Ervin Road.
 
Wyandot County
 
Ohio 103 between Ohio 231 and the Crawford County line is now open.
 
Ohio 53 between Ohio 293 and County Highway 108 will be closed September 26 for three days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 293, County Highway 330, Ohio 199 and Ohio 67 back to Ohio 53. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
