The following is the weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects

Week of August 11, 2014

Allen County

Interstate 75 Reconstruction Project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org

 

Ohio 65 between Brower Road and E. Northern Avenue will be restricted to one lane through the work zone on Monday and Tuesday of the week for utility location. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Work is being performed by the highway management, real estate and construction departments of ODOT District 1.

 

Ohio 66 between Delphos and the Auglaize County line will be restricted through the work zone for tarring and chipping. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 117 from the Mercer County line to west of Spencerville will be restricted through the work zone for tarring and chipping. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

Ohio 65
between U.S. 30 and the north edge of the village of Cairo will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs which will begin during the week. Pavement resurfacing is likely to begin within the following two weeks and will also require a one lane restriction through the work zone. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

Ohio 81 from Stewart Road to the Hardin County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs which will begin during the week prior to pavement resurfacing. The pavement resurfacing project will begin within the next few weeks. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

U.S. 30/Ohio 309 near Delphos may be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for culvert work. Work is expected to be completed in late summer. Work is being performed by Platinum Painting, Boardman.

Defiance County

 

Ohio 18 in the city of Defiance just east of the Ohio 15 (Ottawa Avenue) and Ohio 18 (East Second Street) intersection closed June 9 for two months for culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 281 and U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18. Traffic may also detour to Ohio 15/18 to Ohio 66, U.S. 24, to Ohio 281 back to Ohio 18. The route is expected to be open by the end of August. Work is being performed by Sand Ridge Excavating, Cloverdale.

 

Hancock County

 

U.S. 224 interchange at Interstate 75 reconstruction, Findlay

 

The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75, Findlay, is currently being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

 

The following traffic impacts related to the reconstruction are in effect or will occur in the upcoming weeks:

 

Interstate 75

 

-Beginning Monday night, August 11, at 9 p.m. and continuing until Thursday, August 14, until approximately 6 a.m., Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be diverted up and over the ramps at the interchange for demolition of the remaining, original U.S. 224 bridge structure. Two lanes of traffic on Interstate 75 will be maintained during the demolition.

 

-After the demolition, all ramps at the interchange will be open and will remain open for the duration of the project.

 

-Both the northbound and southbound lanes are currently narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange.

 

- Lane restrictions will continue both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.

 

U.S. 224

 

-The ramps on the north side of the interchange (southbound exit, northbound entrance) closed July 26 for reconstruction. During the ramp closures, traffic is detoured to the Ohio 12 interchange and back. The ramps are expected to reopen August 14.

- Beginning Monday, August 11 at 9 p.m. until Thursday, August 14 at 6 a.m., the U.S. 224 bridge over Interstate 75 will be closed for demolition of the original bridge structure. During this time Interstate 75 traffic will be diverted up and over the ramps at the interchange. No direct access from Interstate 75 to U.S. 224 will be permitted. U.S. 224 traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 12 and Ohio 235. Upon opening of the U.S. 224 bridge on Thursday, August 14, all ramps will be opened and will remain open for the remainder of the project.

-Short-term, daytime lane closures should be expected throughout the week. Traffic maintained at times with flaggers.

-Motorists are cautioned to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting at various locations throughout the work zone on U.S. 224 and along the interchange ramps.

Ohio 103 at the west edge of the village of Arlington will be closed for a waterline replacement beginning August 18 for approximately five days. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 235, U.S. 30 and U.S. 68 back to Ohio 103. Work is being performed by JDR Excavating, Inc., Findlay.

 

Ohio 330 in Vanlue will be closed for a culvert replacement beginning August 11 for approximately five days. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 15, U.S. 23/Ohio 103 and Ohio 568 back to Ohio 330. Work is being performed by the Hancock County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Interstate 75 between Ohio 235 and the city of Findlay will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is taking place in the northbound direction, beginning at Ohio 235 and continuing north. Traffic restrictions will be in place during weekdays and will be removed on the weekends. Work is being performed by Becdir Construction, Berlin Center.

 

Ohio 568 between Blanchard Avenue in Findlay to County Road 180 is currently not restricted for pavement repair and resurfacing. The project is temporarily suspended to allow adjoining work by the city of Findlay to take place. The project will resume in September. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

Hardin County

 

Ohio 53 between Jackson Township Road 60 and Jackson Township Road 50 will be closed for approximately three days beginning August 11 for a crossover replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 31, U.S. 68, Ohio 81 and back to Ohio 53. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

Ohio 53 between Pleasant Township Road 80 and Pleasant Township Road 74 will be closed for approximately two days beginning August 14 for a crossover replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 31, U.S. 68, Ohio 81 back to Ohio 53. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

Ohio 31 in the village of Mt. Victory closed August 4 for approximately three weeks for waterline installation. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 292 and Ohio 47 back to Ohio 31. Work is being performed by Page Engineering, Marysville.

Ohio 31 from the Union County line to Ohio 292 is restricted to one lane through the work zone during pavement resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

Paulding County

 

Ohio 111 between the Indiana-Ohio State Line and Birkhold Road will be restricted through the work zone for a catch basin repair. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 613 at the intersection with Township Road 195 will be restricted through the work zone for a tile repair. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 66 south of the Ohio 613 intersection will be restricted through the work zone for a tile repair. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Putnam County

 

Ohio 613 from the Paulding County line to Ohio 109 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for shoulder work. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 109 between the village of Ottawa and Ohio 613 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for shoulder work. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Van Wert County

 

Ohio 117 from the Allen County line to the Mercer County line will be restricted for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

U.S. 224 west of Van Wert will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for drainage work. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 697 just west of Dog Creek Road is open after being closed for a crossover replacement.

 

Wyandot County

 

Ohio 53 from south of Township Highway 42 to south of County Highway 4 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, likely on Friday of the week, for pavement work. Work is being performed by Helms and Sons Excavating, Findlay.

 

Ohio 294 from west of Ohio 37 to east of County Highway 71 will be restricted through the work zone for pavement repairs. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 67 from the Hardin County line to Ohio 294 will be restricted through the work zone for pavement repairs. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 53/67 (8th Street/Marseilles Avenue) in the city of Upper Sandusky from High Street to Wyandot Avenue will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for water line installation and pavement repair. The project is expected to continue until mid-October. Work is being performed by Park Enterprises, Marion.
