ODOT Seeking Public Comment on Projects


LIMA (Tuesday, November 25, 2014)The Ohio Department of Transportation District 1, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), is seeking public comments regarding the following proposed projects:


Allen County

Cairo Main Street Improvements (PID: 95238) – The Village of Cairo, in partnership with ODOT, has proposed a project to reconstruct Main Street (Lincoln Highway) from the village’s eastern corporate limits to its western corporate limits.  Reconstruction activities will include removing the existing concrete roadway, curbing, and sidewalk, and replacing it with asphalt concrete pavement, concrete curbing, and concrete sidewalk with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps. The project will also involve the replacement of portions of the storm drainage system, manholes, and catch basins. Traffic will be detoured during construction of the proposed project; however, local traffic will be maintained. Construction of the proposed project is scheduled to begin early spring of 2016.


State Route 309-10.22 (PID: 95274) – The proposed project is located in the city of Lima on Ohio 309 from Robb Avenue to Cole Street. The project proposes the resurfacing of Ohio 309 with asphalt concrete pavement. The project also includes the replacement on guardrail, curb and gutter, and manhole inlets. The signals at the intersections of Ohio 309 at Rosedale and also at Cole Street will be reconstructed. Additionally, the roadway extension of Grand Avenue from Rosedale Avenue to Kenilworth Avenue is to be removed. Traffic during construction of the proposed project will be maintained with at least one lane in each direction. Construction of the proposed project is scheduled for early spring of 2016.


Hardin County

Safe Routes To School – Ada Sidewalks (PID: 96263) – The Village of Ada and Ada Exempted Village Schools, in partnership with ODOT, are proposing a project that is funded with federal funds from the Safe Routes to School Program.  This project proposes the reconstruction of sidewalks and curb ramps on Grand Avenue from the school property to Buckeye Avenue and on Highland Avenue from Grand Avenue to Johnson Street. Painted crosswalks on the pavement near the school property and new signage will also be added. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall of 2015.
