ODOT Schedules Public Meeting
LIMA – The Ohio Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss a project scheduled for 2010 which will reconstruct portions of East River Street (U.S. 24) in Antwerp between Main Street (Ohio 49) and Riverside Park.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 26th beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Antwerp United Methodist Church located at the corner of East River St. and Oswalt Street in Antwerp.
A formal presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. which will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Transportation officials will be available to address questions throughout the evening.
The current U.S. 24 will not remain a U.S. route but will become a local roadway when the four-lane relocation project is completed this fall. The village of Antwerp will take over maintenance responsibilities for those portions of River Street located inside the corporation limits.
The remaining sections of existing U.S. 24 will be resurfaced next year as well.
“With this project, we will provide the village of Antwerp with an improved roadway through the village that will be easier to maintain,” said Tim Burkepile, Ohio Department of Trasportation District 1 deputy director.
It is anticipated that construction will begin in the spring of 2010 and will conclude that fall.
