ODOT to Auction Land

LIMA (Tuesday, May 18, 2010) – The Ohio Department of Transportation will offer at public auction approximately 12 acres of excess land in Paulding County.

The property will be auctioned on Thursday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m., at the Paulding County Garage located at 833 Wayne Street, Paulding. Doors will open at 10:00 a.m. Straley Realty and Auctioneers, Van Wert, will conduct the sale.
The property is located in Carryall Township and is contained within two separate tracts of land that are presently tax exempt. No taxes or assessments are owed on the property.

“These tracts were acquired as part of the expansion and relocation of U.S. 24 in Paulding County and are being offered for sale in their “As-Is” condition. This property wasn’t needed for the U.S. 24 project and we’d like to return it back to the tax base of Paulding County,” said Leonard E. Brown, district 1 deputy director.

The first tract, a 2.432-acre section of property located at the corner of Township Road 51 & Township Road 176, requires a security deposit of $500. The second tract, a 9.023-acre section located on County Road 180 at the cul-de-sac east of U.S. 24, requires a security deposit of $2,500. The tracts are appraised for $2,520 and $39,345, respectively. Both parcels have road access.

The successful bidder must provide the security deposit made in the form of cash, cashier’s check or money order at the time of successful bid. Checks must be made to the Treasurer, State of Ohio. The security deposit will be applied against the full purchase price of the property. The balance of the purchase price is due and payable on delivery of the Governor’s Deed. It is anticipated that the Governor’s Deed will be available for delivery to the grantee within 70 to 80 days from the date of the sale or as soon thereafter as possible.

The Ohio Department of Transportation reserves the right to reject any and all bids on any tract listed for sale. A Non-Collusion Affidavit, Form RE 73-02, must be properly executed by the successful bidder for a bid to be considered valid.

It is the responsibility of each bidder to inspect and examine the size and condition of each parcel. The descriptions listed are to be used for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any kind.
