The following is the weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects 

Week of October 13, 2014

Allen County

Interstate 75 Reconstruction Project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org  

 

U.S. 30 westbound between Beaverdam and Ohio 65 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 81 from Stewart Road to the Hardin County line is restricted through the work zone at various locations for the installation of rumble strips and pavement striping. Resurfacing work has been completed. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

U.S. 30/Ohio 309 near Delphos may be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for culvert work. Work is expected to be completed in the fall. Work is being performed by Platinum Painting, Boardman.

Defiance County

 

Ohio 15/18 near the intersection of East Second Street and East Street will close October 20 for three days for installation of a water main and water tap. Traffic on Ohio 15 will be detoured onto Ohio 18, Ohio 281 to U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18. Traffic on Ohio 18 will be detoured onto Ohio 281 to U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18. Work is being performed by Miller Contracting Group, Ottoville, for the city of Defiance.

 

Ohio 18 in the village of Hicksville between Elm Street and Meuse Argonne Street which was to close for a waterline repair October 6 has been delayed. The route is expected to close at some point during the week for approximately three days. Traffic will be detoured onto Elm Street, then Meuse Argonne/Hicksville Edgerton Road, Buckskin Road, Ohio 49 and then back on to Ohio 18. Work is being performed by Cash Services LLC, Genoa.

 

Ohio 2 from the village of Hicksville to just west of the village Farmer will be restricted through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the Defiance County ODOT maintenance garage.  

 

Hancock County

 

U.S. 224 interchange at Interstate 75 reconstruction, Findlay

 

The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75, Findlay, is currently being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

 

The following traffic impacts related to the reconstruction are in effect or will occur in the upcoming weeks:

 

Interstate 75 

 

-Both the northbound and southbound lanes are currently narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange. 

 

- Lane restrictions will continue both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.

 

U.S. 224 

 

-The placement of concrete on the north half of the new bridge deck on U.S. 224 will occur Friday, October 10 beginning at midnight and will continue until 6 a.m., on Saturday, October 11. Traffic on the U.S. 224 bridge will be restricted to one lane through the work zone on those days. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers and law enforcement officers.

 

-All ramps at the interchange are now open and will remain open for the duration of the project.

 

-Traffic on the bridge is one lane in each direction with a turn lane and is traveling on the south side of the bridge.

 

-Short-term, daytime lane closures should be expected throughout the week. Traffic maintained at times with flaggers. 

-Motorists are cautioned to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting at various locations throughout the work zone on U.S. 224 and along the interchange ramps. 

 

-Some business drives on U.S. 224 will be closed at times for reconstruction. Alternate access to all businesses is available.

Interstate 75 southbound between Ohio 235 and the city of Findlay will be restricted to one lane through the work zone from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day during the week for pavement joint repair. Work is being performed by the Hancock County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Hardin County

 

Ohio 235 on the south edge of the village of Ada closed October 2 for approximately nine days for pavement work associated with the Lima Avenue project. Traffic will be detoured on to Ohio 309, Ohio 701, U.S. 68, Ohio 81 then back on to Ohio 235. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving for the village of Ada.

 

Ohio 53 between Township Road 100 and Township Road 60 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for work related to drainage repairs. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 31 pavement resurfacing from the Union County line to Ohio 292 is now complete.  

Paulding County 

 

Ohio 111 from U.S. 127 east to Ohio 637 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

U.S. 127/Ohio 111 in the village of Paulding will be restricted through work zone for the installation of sidewalks. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving Inc., Napoleon. 

 

Putnam County

 

There are no projects scheduled during the week which will have a significant impact to traffic.

 

Van Wert County

 

U.S. 30 from the village of Middle Point to the city of Van Wert in the eastbound driving lane will be restricted through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

 Wyandot County

 

Ohio 294 will close for one day during the week, likely on Wednesday, between Township Road 97 and Ohio 67 for a culvert repair. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 67, Ohio 37 and then back on to Ohio 294. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage. 

 

Ohio 199 south of Carey between Ohio 103 and Township Highway 28 is closed for a culvert replacement for 30 days as of Wednesday, September 10.  The route is expected to reopen to traffic before the beginning of the week. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 23 back to Ohio 199. Work is being performed by Alvada Construction, Alvada.

 

Ohio 53/67 (8th Street/Marseilles Avenue) in the city of Upper Sandusky from High Street to Wyandot Avenue is restricted to one lane through the work zone for water line installation and pavement repair. The project is expected to continue until mid-October. Work is being performed by Park Enterprises, Marion.

 

-Ohio 53/67 from Spring Street to Wyandot Avenue closed on October 6 for approximately four days for work related to the water line installation. The routes are expected to be open to traffic by the beginning of the week.

 

-Traffic from Ohio 53 northbound will be detoured onto Ohio 293, County Road 330, Ohio 199 and then back on to Ohio 53.

 

-Traffic from Ohio 67 will be detoured onto Ohio 294, U.S. 23, Ohio 199 and then back on to Ohio 67.
