Highway Construction
Week of July 10, 2017
 
The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions and, unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

ALLEN COUNTY
 
Interstate 75 southbound ramps at Bluelick Road will be closed for one day each for sealing of bridge decks. The closures will occur generally from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day according to the following schedule. Work is being performed by the ODOT roadway services department:
·        Exit ramp from Interstate 75 southbound to Bluelick Road will close July 11
·        Entrance ramp from Bluelick Road to Interstate 75 southbound will close July 12 
 
State Route 117 in the village of Spencerville closed July 5 for approximately 60 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 66, state Route 197 and state Route 198 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina.
 
Thayer Road on the south side of state Route 309 will be closed beginning July 10 for three days for a culvert replacement. Then beginning July 13, Thayer Road on the north side of state Route 309 will be closed for approximately two days, also for culvert replacement.  Traffic on state Route 309 will not be affected. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 30 westbound at Beaverdam near Reppert Road will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for approximately two weeks for earth work along the highway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Interstate 75, and also Bentley Road and Napoleon Road will be affected during bridge deck replacements on Napoleon Road over Interstate 75, Beaverdam, and Bentley Road over Interstate 75, Bluffton. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge, Sidney. The following are current impacts related to the project:
 
 
Napoleon Road
  • Napoleon Road bridge over I-75 closed May 22 for approximately four months
    • Traffic detoured onto Sugar Creek Road, Swaney Road and Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to Napoleon Road.
  • The northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to Napoleon Road closed May 30 for four months.
    • Traffic detoured north on Interstate 75, east on Lincoln Highway (state Route 696), south on Swaney Road and west on Sugar Creek Road back to Napoleon Road; or west onto Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to S. West Street in Beaverdam.
  • The entrance ramp to Interstate 75 southbound from Napoleon Road will remain open
  • Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 wishing to access state Route 696 are advised to do so via exit 135 (state Route 696/U.S. 30) at Beaverdam. No access to state Route 696 from Interstate 75 northbound at the Napoleon Road exit will be available.
 
Bentley Road (exit 140)
·        Two bridges on Bentley Road at exit 140 (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad north of Interstate 75) closed June 5 for approximately four months.
·        Both the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Bentley Road also closed on June 5 for four months.
o   Interstate 75 northbound traffic will be detoured to the state Route 103 (exit 142) interchange back to Bentley Road.
o   Interstate 75 southbound traffic is advised to access Bentley Road via the state Route 103 interchange (exit 142) and follow state Route 103 through Bluffton back to Bentley Road.
·        The northbound ramps at the interchange remain open; however, left turns onto Bentley Road from northbound Interstate 75 are not permitted.
Interstate 75
·        Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be periodically reduced to one lane at times beneath both the Napoleon Road and Bentley Road bridge structures during certain operations related to construction.
·        Lane closures will occur sporadically and are expected to occur mostly during daytime hours but some nighttime closures may occur.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY

State Route 18 between township Road 115 and Glenberg Road will close beginning August 8 for culvert replacements at three locations: two located west of Sherwood, one east of Sherwood. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon. Closures will occur consecutively as follows:
·        Culvert #1, located between Cicero Road and Rosedale Road, will close August 8 for 25 days. Traffic detoured onto state Route 2, state Route 249 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
·        Culvert #2, located between Openlander Road and Behnfeldt Road, will close for 25 days following completion of culvert #1. Traffic detoured onto state Route 2, state Route 249 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
·        Culvert #3, located between Flickinger Road and Glenberg Road, will close for 30 days following completion of culvert #2. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
 
State Route 2, and state Route 18 between the Indiana state line and Hicksville will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Defiance County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 24 westbound at Baltimore Street, Defiance, is restricted to one lane through the work zone through early September for repair of the roadside slope. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers, Archbold. The following upcoming closure is related to the project:
·        The entrance ramp from Baltimore Street to westbound U.S. 24 will be closed for the day on Monday, July 10 to allow for pavement markings and barrier wall to be placed for maintenance of traffic through the work zone. Traffic will be detoured to county Road 424 (old U.S 24) to U.S. 127 back to U.S. 24.
 
State Route 66 between Bowman and Watson roads, south of Defiance, closed June 5 for approximately three months for a bridge deck replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 613, state Route 634, state Route 15 and Carter Road back to state Route 66. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Inc., Napoleon.
 
U.S. 127 between state Route 18 and township Road 34, south of Sherwood, closed April 24 for 60 days for culvert replacement at two locations. The project completion has been delayed to late July due to weather. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24, state Route 15 and state Route 18 back to U.S. 127. HANCOCK COUNTY

State Route 12 just east of Benton Ridge is currently scheduled to close July 17 for approximately 60 days for a bridge deck repair. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 235, U.S. 224 and Interstate 75 back to state Route 12. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
 
State Route 18/state Route 613 overlap just west of Fostoria will close July 10 for approximately three days for a culvert replacement. Traffic for both routes detoured onto state Route 12, Bright Road, county Road 212, county Road 99 and Interstate 75 back to state Route 18 or state Route 613. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
 
Resurfacing of the following routes within the city of Findlay will restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Old Fort.
·        U.S. 224 from Broad Street to Main Street
·        State Route 12 from Interstate 75 to Main Street
o   Paving is complete on both U.S. 224 and state Route 12. Pavement striping will continue to restrict traffic.
·        State Route 37 from Lincoln Avenue to Blanchard Avenue
·        State Route 568 from Main Street to Beech Avenue
o   Paving on state Route 37 and state Route 568 will not be completed until August to allow work by the city of Findlay to take place.
 
U.S. 68 from the Findlay airport to Eagle Creek, south of Findlay, will have daily lane closures in both directions beginning early August for installation of cable barrier in the median. Once work begins it is expected to be completed in approximately eight weeks. The project also includes the installation of overhead lighting and the removal of the caution flasher at Western Avenue. Work is being performed by Lake Erie Construction, Norwalk.
 
U.S. 224 just west of state Route 235, west of Findlay, has been delayed and is now scheduled to close July 24 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 224, state Route 235, state Route 12 and state Route 65 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by BCC Ohio, New London.
 
U.S. 68 southbound exit ramp to U.S. 68 southbound over Eagle Creek at state Route 15, south of Findlay, closed May 15 for approximately two months for bridge repair. The ramp is expected to reopen by the end of July. Traffic detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound to the state Route 37 interchange to state Route 15 westbound back to U.S. 68. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
 
HARDIN COUNTY
 
State Route 31 closure between township Road 265 and state Route 273 has been delayed until early August. Work will begin once a project on state Route 195 south of McGuffey has been completed.
 
The project will repair a bridge over Painter Creek just south of township Road 206, and a bridge over Wolf Creek north of township Road 265.
 
The project is currently scheduled to close the route for 60 days, but ODOT is in negotiations with the contractor to shorten the closure duration. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 292 and state Route 273 back to state Route 31. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
State Route 195 over Cottonwood Ditch, south of McGuffey, between the north and south jog of Cottonwood Road, closed June 5 for 60 days for bridge repair. Traffic detoured onto county Road 110, state Route 235 and state Route 309 back to state Route 195 Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
State Route 81 at township Road 55, east of Ada, drainage tile repair will be suspended for the week to allow crews to mow highway right of way throughout the county. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.
 
PAULDING COUNTY
 
State Route 637 in the village of Grover Hill closed June 5 for three months for road reconstruction. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 224, U.S. 127 and state Route 613 back to state Route 637. Work is being performed by Brenneman Excavating Inc. for the village of Grover Hill.
 
State Route 66 from U.S. 224 in Putnam County to the Defiance County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for the tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
State Route 190 just north of Road T-Q, north of Fort Jennings, will close July 24 for approximately two weeks for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 634 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 190. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 12 between Pandora and the Hancock County line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for removal of pavement reflectors in preparation for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.

VAN WERT COUNTY
 
Placement of berm stone will restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone at the following locations. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 697 throughout Van Wert County
·        State Route 49 south of U.S. 224 to Willshire
 
State Route 637 closure between Feasby Wisener Road and Elm Sugar Grove Church Road has been delayed indefinitely due to flooding and will be rescheduled.

U.S. 30 from just east of township Road 127 to just east of county Road 185 restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement and joint repair and drainage improvements. Resurfacing of the pavement will follow the repair work. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
WYANDOT COUNTY
 
State Route 231 between township Highway 43 and county Highway 44, north of Nevada, will close July 24 for five days for culvert replacement at two locations. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 30, U.S. 23, state Route 53, state Route 67 and state Route 103 back to state Route 231. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
 
The following locations will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 231 from just north of county Highway 330 to state Route 103
·        State Route 293 from state Route 53 to Wharton
 
State Route 53 between Upper Sandusky and state Route 37, Forest, is restricted to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction Co., Columbus.
 
U.S. 23 and state Route 15 near their interchange with state Route 103, south of Carey, reduced to one lane in each direction for work related to the removal of two bridge structures over abandoned railroads. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction Inc., Archbold. The following are traffic impacts related to the project:
  • All traffic has been shifted to the east side of the road and is reduced to one lane in each direction between county Highway 97 and county Highway 95 for the removal of structures on the U.S. 23 southbound, state Route 15 eastbound lanes. Traffic will remain in this pattern for approximately two months. All ramps at state Route 103 will remain open during this phase.
  • The project also includes the upcoming resurfacing of U.S. 23 from just north of county Highway 97 to the state Route 103 interchange and of the ramps at state Route 103.
State Route 53 between state Route 103 and county Road 2, McCutchenville, closed April 24 for approximately six months for bridge replacements over Thorn Run and Tymochtee Creek. Traffic detoured onto state Route 103, state Route 231 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 53.
