The following is the weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects

Week of July 14, 2014

Allen County

Interstate 75 Reconstruction Project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org

Ohio 66 between Delphos and the Auglaize County line will be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for pavement repairs. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and cones noting the lane closures. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

U.S. 30/Ohio 309 near Delphos may be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for culvert work. Work is expected to be completed in late July. Work is being performed by Platinum Painting, Boardman.

Defiance County

 

Ohio 15 (North Clinton Street) over the Maumee River in the city of Defiance will have nightly lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning July 14 for bridge maintenance. Work on the bridge is expected to be completed in two weeks. Work is being performed by Cosmo Comprehensive Construction, Canal Fulton.

 

Ohio 18 in the city of Defiance just east of the Ohio 15 (Ottawa Avenue) and Ohio 18 (East Second Street) intersection closed June 9 for two months for culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 281 and U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18. Traffic may also detour to Ohio 15/18 to Ohio 66, U.S. 24, to Ohio 281 back to Ohio 18. Work is being performed by Sand Ridge Excavating, Cloverdale.

 

Hancock County

 

U.S. 224 interchange at Interstate 75 reconstruction, Findlay

 

The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75, Findlay, is currently being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

 

The following traffic impacts related to the reconstruction are in effect or will occur in the upcoming weeks:

 

Interstate 75

 

 

-Both the northbound and southbound lanes are narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange.

 

- Lane restrictions will continue both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.

 

U.S. 224

 

-The ramps on the south side of the interchange (northbound exit, southbound entrance) are scheduled to close late in the day on July 13 for two weeks for reconstruction. Traffic will be detoured to the County Road 99 interchange and back. Once the south side ramps are open, the ramps on the north side of the interchange will close, also for two weeks (southbound exit, northbound entrance).

 

-Short-term, daytime lane closures should be expected throughout the week. Traffic maintained at times with flaggers.

-Traffic on the bridge over Interstate 75, Findlay, is traveling on the north half of the bridge, one lane in each direction with no turn lanes. All ramps at the interchange are currently open.

 

-Motorists are cautioned to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting at various locations throughout the work zone on U.S. 224 and along the interchange ramps.

Interstate 75 between Ohio 235 and the city of Findlay will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair beginning July 14. Work will begin in the northbound direction, beginning at Ohio 235 and working north. Traffic restrictions will be in place during weekdays and will be removed on the weekends. Work is being performed by Becdir Construction, Berlin Center.

 

Ohio 568 between Blanchard Avenue in Findlay to County Road 180 is currently not restricted for pavement repair and resurfacing. The project is temporarily suspended to allow adjoining work by the city of Findlay to take place. The project will resume in September. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

Hardin County


Ohio 117 in Roundhead will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work will be performed through the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

Ohio 67 will have a one lane restriction through the work zone at Township Road 179 for pavement repairs. Work will be performed through the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.

Ohio 31 from the Union County line to Ohio 292 will be restricted during pavement resurfacing beginning this week. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

U.S. 68 from the Kenton Corporation limit to the Logan County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for minor finish work following a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by the Shelly Co., Findlay.  

Paulding County

 

Ohio 49 from Payne to U.S. 30 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 500 from the Indiana state line to the village of Payne will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for tarring and chipping of the roadway. Work is being performed by the Paulding County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 49 in the village of Payne closed July 7 for approximately two weeks for a railroad crossing repair. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 500 and Ohio 111 back to Ohio 49. Work is being performed by Roadsafe Traffic.

 

U.S. 127 in the village of Latty just south of County Road 92 is now open following a railroad crossing repair.

 

Putnam County

 

Ohio 634 approximately one mile north of Continental will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for ditch cleaning. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Van Wert County

 

Ohio 117 between Spencerville and the Mercer County Line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for removal of pavement reflectors. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Wyandot County

 

Ohio 53/67 (8th Street/Marseilles Avenue) in the city of Upper Sandusky from High Street to Wyandot Avenue will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for water line installation and pavement repair. The project is expected to continue until early October. Work is being performed by Park Enterprises, Marion.

 

U.S. 23 between Upper Sandusky and Carey will be restricted to one lane closures through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 53 from the west corporation limit of the city of Upper Sandusky to Ohio 67, and from the courthouse in the city north to the Ohio 53/67 split is reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair and resurfacing. The project will continue until mid July. Work is being performed by Kokosing, Fredericksburg.
