The following is a weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects
Week of August 31, 2015

Allen County
 
Interstate 75 Reconstruction project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org.
 
Ohio 81 between Sugar Street and Neubrecht Road will continue to be restricted as pavement repairs, curb and resurfacing work continues. Milling and paving is currently taking place and will also occur on Saturday, August 29. Currently two lanes of traffic are traveling in the eastbound direction and one lane in the westbound direction. All lanes are anticipated to be opened and returned to a normal driving pattern at some point during the week. Work is expected to be complete within the next three weeks. Work is being performed by R.B. Jergens Contractors Inc., Dayton.
 
Interstate 75 southbound exit ramp to Ohio 117/309, and Ohio 117/309 westbound in the area of the ramp will be restricted for the day on Wednesday, September 2 during installation of a monitoring well. All traffic movements at the ramp will be maintained during the work. Work is being performed by the Ohio Department of Transportation, central office.
 
Defiance County

Ohio 18 from the east edge of Hicksville to the west edge of Sherwood will be restricted to one lane for a chip seal project. Work is being performed by the Defiance County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
 
Hancock County
 
U.S. 224 from Trenton Avenue in Findlay to County Road 212 east of Findlay including Main Street will be restricted through the fall for a resurfacing project. Installation of handicap ramps between County Road 212 and Plaza Street is underway and will affect north-south movement on County Road 236 and Bright Road. Patching will begin between Main Street and the east end of the project limits on August 31. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Interstate 75 northbound and southbound south of Findlay, from three miles south of the rest areas to the Interstate 75/Ohio 15 interchange is restricted to one lane in each direction for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Work is currently occurring in the northbound and southbound driving lanes with traffic traveling in the passing lanes. At some time during the week all lanes will be opened to traffic and will remain open through Labor Day weekend. Work at the rest area ramps will be occurring in the coming weeks and may result in short-term access restrictions to the rest areas. Work will continue through late fall. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay.
 
Ohio 15 from the Findlay airport to Ohio 37 eastbound and westbound will remain restricted to one lane in each direction through the end of summer for a resurfacing project. Work this week and next will affect traffic at the U.S. 68/Ohio 15 ramps. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay:
·       Ohio 15/U.S. 68 interchange Traffic is currently maintained on all ramps at the interchange during grinding and paving operations. Beginning as early as Saturday, August 29 but more likely on August 31 and September 1, the westbound exit ramp from Ohio 15 westbound to U.S. 68, and the northbound entrance ramp from U.S. 68 to U.S. 68/Ohio 15 will be closed for one day each during daytime hours for paving. The order of closures is not known but only one ramp at a time will be closed. The following detours will be in effect during the closures:
§  Northbound entrance ramp closure –Ohio 15 eastbound to the Ohio 37 interchange to Ohio 15 westbound back to U.S. 68/Ohio 15.
§  Westbound exit ramp closure – Ohio 15 westbound, U.S. 68/Ohio 15, Interstate 75 northbound, Ohio 12 and Interstate 75 southbound back to U.S. 68 southbound.
 
Interstate 75 in Wood and Hancock counties: Through 2016, southbound I-75 is reduced to two lanes from US 20 to I-475 in Perrysburg. Through November, from 8pm until 6am, single lane restrictions are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg to CR 99 in Hancock County. Through 2016, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between US 20 in Perrysburg to CR 99 in Hancock County.  Project complete: October 2017. All work is weather permitting.
Special events . . .
  • Effective Monday, April 27, through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between CR 220 and TR 142, will be closed for bridge work on I-75.
 
Hardin County
 
Ohio 701 in various locations will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 31 in various locations will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
Ohio 31 south of the Ohio 31/Ohio 292 intersection will be closed beginning September 14 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 292 and Ohio 47 back to Ohio 31. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Inc., Napoleon.
 
Ohio 309 between Township Road 245 and County Road 18 will be closed beginning on September 14 for approximately three days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 67 and Ohio 37 back to Ohio 309. Work is being performed by the Hardin County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 67 north of the village of Roundhead just east of Ohio 235 closed June 15 for approximately three months for a bridge repair project over the Scioto River. The route is expected to open by Friday, August 28. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 235, Ohio 309 and U.S. 68 back to Ohio 67. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge Co., Sidney.
 
Ohio 81 between County Road 159 east of Dunkirk and Township Road 165 closed August 26 for approximately 30 days for two culvert replacements. Traffic is detoured onto U.S. 68, U.S. 30, Ohio 37 and Ohio 53 back to Ohio 81. Work is being performed by Sand Ridge Excavating, Cloverdale.
 
Paulding County
 
U.S. 127 between Garfield Avenue and Jackson Street in the village of Paulding closed April 13 for approximately eight months for a sewer separation project. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 111, Ohio 637 and Ohio 114 back onto U.S. 127. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina.
 
Putnam County
 
Ohio 109 just north of Ohio 613, north of West Leipsic, will be closed for approximately five days beginning September 8 for a culvert repair. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 613, Ohio 108 and Ohio 18 back to Ohio 109. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 65 northeast of Ottawa which closed August 4 for approximately two weeks for a culvert replacement has reopened.
 
Ohio 12 east of Pandora, just east of Road 4, closed August 24 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 235, Interstate 75 and Ohio 696 back to Ohio 12. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 224 between Ohio 634 and Ohio 190 closed on August 10 for 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 634 and Ohio 190 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Napoleon.
 
U.S. 224 in Glandorf will close on August 31 for approximately three days for a culvert replacement. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 694, Ohio 115 and Ohio 15 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 189 at the east edge of Ottoville closed May 27 for an emergency culvert repair. The road is closed for an indefinite amount of time. Traffic is being detoured onto Ohio 190, Ohio 634 and U.S. 224 back to Ohio 189.
 
Van Wert County
 
Ohio 116 at the south end of Venedocia will be closed beginning August 31 for approximately nine days for culvert replacements at three locations. Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 127 and Ohio 709 back to Ohio 116. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Wyandot County
 
Ohio 294 between Ohio 37 and Ohio 67 will be restricted to one lane at times during the week for bridge patching and repair work. Work is being performed by BCC Ohio, New London, Ohio.
 
Ohio 67 north of Upper Sandusky will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 53 north of Upper Sandusky will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for berm work. Work is being performed by the Wyandot County ODOT maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 67 between Ohio 294 and County Highway 64 closed August 18 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement and drainage project. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 294, Ohio 37 and Ohio 53 back to Ohio 67. Work is being performed by Mark Haynes Construction, Norwalk.
 
U.S. 23/30 northbound and southbound at Upper Sandusky is currently reduced to one lane through the work zone for bridge and pavement repair and resurfacing. On U.S. 23 the zone extends from south of Ohio 182 to just south of County Road 47, and on U.S. 30 from the U.S. 23 split to Township Highway 103. The project will continue through October. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
