Repair of Overhead Flasher at Western Avenue Delayed
Lima (Tuesday, January 12, 2010) – Repair of the overhead flashing beacon at Western Avenue and Township Road 81 at the intersection with U.S. 68/15 will be delayed until tomorrow.
Personnel from the Hancock County ODOT maintenance garage, which were scheduled to provide traffic control for the crews performing the repair work, were called out today on snow and ice control. The repairs are expected to begin tomorrow, weather permitting, said Leonard E. Brown, Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 deputy director.
During the repair work, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone on U.S. 68/Ohio 15. The restriction will be in place during working hours only, generally between 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The repair is expected to take up to two days to complete.
Intermittent stoppages of traffic for brief periods will be necessary, but traffic will be maintained at all times. Message boards will be placed on U.S. 68/Ohio 15 to alert motorists to the work zone.
Access to the highway from Western Avenue and Township Road 81 will not be permitted while work is taking place. The median crossover will also be closed.
