Highway Construction
Week of July 31, 2017
 
The following is work scheduled to occur on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. The schedule of work is dependent upon weather conditions and, unless otherwise noted, work will take place during daytime hours.

ALLEN COUNTY
 
State Route 117 at various locations between Lima and Spencerville will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
State Route 117 just east of Thayer Road will close August 5 for approximately seven days for pipeline installation. Traffic detoured to Interstate 75, state Route 65 and state Route 67 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by Bolin Inc., Casey, Ill.
 
State Route 117 in the village of Spencerville closed July 5 for approximately 60 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 66, state Route 197 and state Route 198 back to state Route 117. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation, Celina.
 
U.S. 30 westbound at Beaverdam near Reppert Road will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for approximately two weeks for earth work along the highway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Interstate 75, and also Bentley Road and Napoleon Road will be affected during bridge deck replacements on Napoleon Road over Interstate 75, Beaverdam, and Bentley Road over Interstate 75, Bluffton. Work is being performed by Eagle Bridge, Sidney. The following are current impacts related to the project:
 
 
Napoleon Road
  • Napoleon Road bridge over I-75 closed May 22 for approximately four months
    • Traffic detoured onto Sugar Creek Road, Swaney Road and Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to Napoleon Road.
  • The northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to Napoleon Road closed May 30 for four months.
    • Traffic detoured north on Interstate 75, east on Lincoln Highway (state Route 696), south on Swaney Road and west on Sugar Creek Road back to Napoleon Road; or west onto Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to S. West Street in Beaverdam.
  • The entrance ramp to Interstate 75 southbound from Napoleon Road will remain open
  • Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 wishing to access state Route 696 are advised to do so via exit 135 (state Route 696/U.S. 30) at Beaverdam. No access to state Route 696 from Interstate 75 northbound at the Napoleon Road exit will be available.
 
Bentley Road (exit 140)
·        Two bridges on Bentley Road at exit 140 (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad north of Interstate 75) closed June 5 for approximately four months.
·        Both the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Bentley Road also closed on June 5 for four months.
o   Interstate 75 northbound traffic will be detoured to the state Route 103 (exit 142) interchange back to Bentley Road.
o   Interstate 75 southbound traffic is advised to access Bentley Road via the state Route 103 interchange (exit 142) and follow state Route 103 through Bluffton back to Bentley Road.
·        The northbound ramps at the interchange remain open; however, left turns onto Bentley Road from northbound Interstate 75 are not permitted.
 
Interstate 75
·        Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be periodically reduced to one lane at times beneath both the Napoleon Road and Bentley Road bridge structures during certain operations related to construction.
·        Lane closures will occur sporadically and are expected to occur mostly during daytime hours but some nighttime closures may occur.
 
DEFIANCE COUNTY

State Route 2/state Route 49 within the village of Hicksville will close August 1 for approximately two weeks for excavation of a manhole. Traffic detoured onto state Route 18, U.S. 127 and U.S. 24 back to state Route 2 and state Route 49. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon, for the village of Hicksville.
 
State Route 18 between township Road 115 and Glenberg Road will close beginning August 28 for culvert replacements at three locations: two located west of Sherwood, one east of Sherwood. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon. Closures will occur consecutively as follows:
·        Culvert #1, located between Cicero Road and Rosedale Road, will close August 28 for 25 days. Traffic detoured onto state Route 2, state Route 249 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
·        Culvert #2, located between Openlander Road and Behnfeldt Road, will close for 25 days following completion of culvert #1. Traffic detoured onto state Route 2, state Route 249 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
·        Culvert #3, located between Flickinger Road and Glenberg Road, will close for 30 days following completion of culvert #2. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24 and U.S. 127 back to state Route 18.
 
U.S. 24 westbound at Baltimore Street, Defiance, is restricted to one lane through the work zone through early September for repair of the roadside slope. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers, Archbold. The following closure is related to the project:
·        The entrance ramp from Baltimore Street to westbound U.S. 24 closed July 10 for approximately 60 days. Traffic is detoured onto U.S. 24 eastbound to its interchange with state Route 15/state Route 18 back to U.S. 24 westbound. The ramp will remain closed for the duration of the project.
 
State Route 66 between Bowman and Watson roads, south of Defiance, closed June 5 for approximately three months for a bridge deck replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 613, state Route 634, state Route 15 and Carter Road back to state Route 66. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Inc., Napoleon.
 
U.S. 127 between state Route 18 and township Road 34, south of Sherwood, is closed for culvert replacements at two locations. The route is expected to reopen to traffic early in the week. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24, state Route 15 and state Route 18 back to U.S. 127. Work is being performed by VTF Construction, Celina.

HANCOCK COUNTY

Interstate 75 traffic, both northbound and southbound, just south of state Route 235, north of Bluffton, will be slowed or temporarily stopped for a brief period of approximately 20 minutes on August 9 to allow for removal of overhead lines over the interstate. Traffic is expected to be slowed at approximately 10 a.m. During the operation, traffic will not be permitted to enter southbound Interstate 75 from state Route 235. Work is being performed by Hancock Wood Electric.
 
State Route 12 just east of Benton Ridge closed July 17 for approximately 60 days for a bridge deck repair. Traffic is detoured onto state Route 235, U.S. 224 and Interstate 75 back to state Route 12. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
 
State Route 18 and state Route 613 from the Van Buren city line to the Fostoria city line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for chipping and tarring of the roadway. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hancock County maintenance garage.
 
Resurfacing of the following routes within the city of Findlay will restrict traffic to one lane through the work zone. Work is being performed by M&B Asphalt, Old Fort.
·        U.S. 224 from Broad Street to Main Street
·        State Route 12 from Interstate 75 to Main Street
o   Paving is complete on both U.S. 224 and state Route 12. Pavement striping will continue to restrict traffic.
·        State Route 37 from Lincoln Avenue to Blanchard Avenue
·        State Route 568 from Main Street to Beech Avenue
o   Paving on state Route 37 and state Route 568 will not be completed until August to allow work by the city of Findlay to take place.
 
U.S. 68 from the Findlay airport to Eagle Creek, south of Findlay, will have daily lane closures in both directions beginning early August for installation of cable barrier in the median. Once work begins, it is expected to be completed in approximately eight weeks. The project also includes the installation of overhead lighting and the removal of the caution flasher at Western Avenue. Work is being performed by Lake Erie Construction, Norwalk.
 
U.S. 224 just west of state Route 235 closed July 24 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. Traffic is detoured onto U.S. 224, state Route 235, state Route 12 and state Route 65 back to U.S. 224. Work is being performed by BCC Ohio, New London.
 
U.S. 68 southbound exit ramp to U.S. 68 southbound over Eagle Creek at state Route 15, south of Findlay, closed May 15 for approximately two months for bridge repair. The ramp is expected to reopen at some point during the week. Traffic detoured onto state Route 15 eastbound to the state Route 37 interchange to state Route 15 westbound back to U.S. 68. Work is being performed by Global Outdoor Solutions, Cleveland.
 
HARDIN COUNTY
 
Removal of pavement reflectors and pavement repairs will take place at the following locations with traffic maintained through the work zone. Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 53 between Forest and Patterson
·        State Route 385 throughout Hardin County
 
State Route 31 between township Road 265 and state Route 273, north of Mount Victory, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone beginning August 7 during bridge repair work. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
Traffic will be affected by the project as follows:
·        The project will occur on a bridge over Painter Creek just south of township Road 206, and a bridge over Wolf Creek north of township Road 265.
·        Work will affect only one bridge at a time. Traffic will be initially maintained with flaggers.
·        No lane restrictions will occur during nighttime hours or weekends.
·        In early September, state Route 31 will close and traffic will be detoured for 14 days. Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 292 and state Route 273 back to state Route 31.
·        Project will complete in early October.
 
 
State Route 195 over Cottonwood Ditch, south of McGuffey, between the north and south jog of Cottonwood Road, closed June 5 for 60 days for bridge repair. The project is expected to be complete in early August. Traffic detoured onto county Road 110, state Route 235 and state Route 309 back to state Route 195. Work is being performed by Crossroads Construction, Cambridge.
 
PAULDING COUNTY
 
State Route 637 in the village of Grover Hill closed June 5 for three months for road reconstruction. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 224, U.S. 127 and state Route 613 back to state Route 637. Work is being performed by Brenneman Excavating Inc. for the village of Grover Hill.
 
State Route 114 just east of state Route 49 will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for drainage tile repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Paulding County maintenance garage.
 
PUTNAM COUNTY
 
State Route 190 just north of township Road Q, north of Fort Jennings, will close July 31 for approximately two weeks for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto state Route 634 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 190. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
VAN WERT COUNTY
 
The following routes and locations will be restricted at times to one lane through the work zone until fall for resurfacing. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay:
·        U.S. 33 from the Indiana state line to the Mercer County line
·        State Route 118 from the Mercer County line to Ervin Street
·        State Route 49 from the Mercer County line to the U.S. 33 overlap
·        State Route 81 from the Indiana state line to U.S. 33
·        U.S. 224 from township Road 77 to the CSX railroad
 
Berm repair will take place at the following locations with traffic restricted to one lane through the work zone. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 49 from Willshire to U.S. 224
·        State Route 117 throughout Van Wert County
·        State Route 81 west of state Route 118 to Willshire
 
U.S. 30 is restricted to one lane through the work zone at the following locations for projects which will repair the pavement and joints, improve drainage and resurface the route. Work is being performed by Shelly Company, Findlay:
·        From just east of township Road 127 to just east of county Road 185.
·        From U.S. 224 to near the Indiana state line

WYANDOT COUNTY
 
The following locations will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for removal of pavement reflectors. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage:
·        State Route 293 from state Route 53 to Wharton
·        State route 37 from Marseilles to Forest
 
State Route 53 between Upper Sandusky and state Route 37, Forest, is restricted to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. The project will complete in mid August. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction Co., Columbus.
 
U.S. 23 and state Route 15 near their interchange with state Route 103, south of Carey, is reduced to one lane in each direction for work related to the removal of two bridge structures over abandoned railroads. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction Inc., Archbold. The following are traffic impacts related to the project:
  • All traffic has been shifted to the east side of the road and is reduced to one lane in each direction between county Highway 97 and county Highway 95 for the removal of structures on the U.S. 23 southbound, state Route 15 eastbound lanes. Traffic will remain in this pattern for approximately two months. All ramps at state Route 103 will remain open during this phase.
  • The project also includes the upcoming resurfacing of U.S. 23 from just north of county Highway 97 to the state Route 103 interchange and of the ramps at state Route 103.
State Route 53 between state Route 103 and county Road 2, McCutchenville, closed April 24 for approximately six months for bridge replacements over Thorn Run and Tymochtee Creek. Traffic detoured onto state Route 103, state Route 231 and U.S. 224 back to state Route 53.
