The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. For the latest in statewide construction visit www.ohgo.com.
Week of March 14, 2016
Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Robb Avenue to Cole Street will be restricted for reconstruction of the curb and gutter, upgrade of traffic signals and resurfacing of the roadway. The continuous turn from eastbound Ohio 309 to Grand Avenue will be permanently closed on Monday, March 14. Lane restrictions will begin in the westbound direction first, then switch eastbound. Three lanes of traffic will remain open at all times throughout the duration of the project. Only one lane at a time will be taken out of service. The project will be completed in the fall. Work is being performed by Smith Paving, Norwalk.
Ohio 15 (Clinton Street) on the bridge over the Maumee River in the city of Defiance will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for soil borings in preparation for replacement of the bridge which is currently scheduled in 2019. Boring work began in February and has been delayed due to weather. The restriction will affect both the northbound and southbound directions, one direction at a time. The restrictions are generally occurring between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, weekdays only. Work is being performed by Pro GeoTech, Cleveland.
Ohio 235 southbound just north of Ohio 67 will be restricted through the work zone during the week for utility work. Traffic through the work zone will be maintained with temporary traffic signals. Work is being performed by Buckeye Pipeline, Columbus.
Ohio 49 north of the village of Payne, between Road 94 and Road 96, will be closed beginning March 21 for 60 days for a bridge replacement project. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 500 and Ohio 111 back to Ohio 49. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel, Napoleon.
Ohio 696 between the Allen County line and Ohio 12 will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
Van Wert County
Sealing of pavement cracks will take place at the following locations during the week. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage:
-U.S. 30, both eastbound and westbound, between the city of Van Wert and the Indiana line.
-Ohio 49, both northbound and southbound, between U.S. 30 and U.S. 224.
