COUNTY: Southbound ramps at Lima Avenue and U.S. 68/state Route 15
The following are current or upcoming
traffic impacts related to the reconstruction and widening of Interstate
75 in Hancock County through the city of Findlay. All work is weather
Dates to note:
Southbound ramps on the west side of Lima Avenue at U.S. 68/state Route
15 will close for three weeks (weather permitting).
Interstate 75, both
northbound and southbound throughout the project, from just south of
Harrison Street to county Road 99, is occasionally restricted during
nighttime hours only, generally between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.
for pavement reconstruction and widening. Two lanes of traffic in each
direction are maintained during daytime hours.
- Paving work is currently
happening on I-75 southbound from the U.S. 68/state Route 15
interchange to the south end of the project near Harrison
Street. This summer, the southbound lanes through this area
will be shifted to the west onto a new alignment.
- Three lanes of traffic
are now operating on I-75 northbound between U.S. 224 and county
Road 99. A third lane southbound is expected to be opened later this
summer when the northbound side of the bridge over the Blanchard
River is complete.
- I-75 southbound south of
the U.S. 68/state Route 15 interchange is operating in a contraflow
pattern with one lane of southbound traffic switched onto the
northbound side. This pattern will remain until mid May.
- An auxiliary lane on I-75
northbound between U.S. 68/state Route 15 and the state Route 12
interchange has been reopened following asphalt paving.
- The lane alleviates the
short merge which currently exists at U.S. 68/state Route 15 onto
- Traffic wishing to exit
onto state Route 12 may remain in the auxiliary lane without
entering onto I-75 northbound.
- The pavement on I-75 is
currently an intermediate pavement. The final driving surface will
not be placed until the last year of the project in 2020.
U.S. 68/STATE ROUTE 15
U.S. 68/state Route 15 is reduced to one lane in both directions between Lima Avenue
and the Findlay city limit, which is just north of West Hobart Avenue,
for drainage work and road reconstruction. The traffic pattern will
change later in the year.
U.S. 224 INTERCHANGE
All ramps at the U.S.
224 interchange are open.
STATE ROUTE 12 INTERCHANGE
All ramps at the state Route 12 interchange are open.
U.S. 68/STATE ROUTE 15 INTERCHANGE
The exit ramp from
Interstate 75 northbound to U.S. 68/state Route 15 closed June 2017 for
approximately three years during reconstruction of the interchange.
- Traffic is detoured north
to the state Route 12 interchange to Interstate 75 southbound back
to U.S. 68/state Route 15. (see
The entrance ramp from
U.S. 68/state Route 15 to Interstate 75 southbound closed in early
November 2018 through the remainder of the project during reconstruction
of the interchange (see map).
- Traffic is detoured onto
Interstate 75 northbound to the state Route 12 interchange to
Interstate 75 southbound.
Lima Avenue closed
Oct. 15 until the end of the 2019 construction season. The following
traffic impacts are in place (see graphic)
- Lima Avenue traffic
cannot travel east or west beneath U.S. 68/state Route 15.
- No access from U.S. 68
southbound to Lima Avenue eastbound, or from U.S. 68 northbound to
Lima Avenue westbound is possible.
- To access Lima Avenue on
the west side of U.S. 68/state Route 15, traffic is detoured onto
I-75 northbound to the state Route 12 interchange to I-75
southbound back to Lima Avenue (see
- To access Lima Avenue on
the east side of U.S. 68/state Route 15, traffic is detoured onto
U.S. 68/state Route 15 southbound to the U.S. 68/state Route 15
interchange, south of Findlay, to U.S. 68/state Route 15 northbound
back to Lima Avenue (see
- On April 29, the
southbound ramps at U.S. 68/state Route 15 at Lima Avenue on the
west side of U.S. 68/state Route 15 near the airport will close for
approximately three weeks during construction of a roundabout (see
- Traffic will be detoured
onto state Route 12 and county Road 9 back to Lima Avenue.
- When the ramps reopen,
traffic will be in a new pattern and will utilize portions of the
- Concrete work is
occurring within the roundabout area. Concrete curbs and a truck
apron, which guides truck tires away from the interior of the
roundabout, have been completed.
- Paving of new ramps is
taking place on the airport side from U.S. 68/state Route 15 to
- The northbound ramps at
Lima Avenue, near Cooper Tire, are expected to close once the
southbound ramps reopen.
- Logan Avenue between Lima
Avenue and Blaine Street closed March 25 for approximately two
months during reconstruction to align the road with Lima Avenue.
- Byal Avenue between
Blaine and Lima Avenue closed in July 2018 for reconstruction. The
road will reopen when the roundabout at Lima Avenue is opened.
- All noise walls
throughout the project are completed. Final touch-up of seeding and
grading will continue this season.
About the Hancock I-75 project:
Interstate 75 will be
reconstructed and widened beginning just south of Harrison Street/County
Road 144, which is just south of the U.S. Route 68/state Route 15
interchange, to the county Road 99 interchange, Findlay, Hancock
County. The project will reconstruct approximately five miles
of the existing four lanes of Interstate 75, construct an additional lane
of travel in each direction, replace all mainline bridges on I-75,
replace the Harrison Street overpass, redesign and reconstruct the
interchange between U.S. 68/state Route 15 and Interstate 75, and
redesign and reconstruct the interchange with U.S. 68/state Route 15 at
Lima Avenue. The project also includes the construction of noise walls at
particular locations. Expected completion is fall of 2020. Beaver
Excavating, Canton, serves as the general contractor.
