The following is the weekly report concerning construction and maintenance work on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. This report is issued each week beginning in April and continues through November.

Construction and Maintenance Projects

Week of June 16, 2014

Allen County

Interstate 75 Reconstruction Project For the most recent information concerning the Interstate 75 reconstruction project through Lima and Allen County please visit www.odotlima75.org

Ohio 117 approximately two miles west of Westminster will be closed for the majority of the week of June 16 for a drainage project. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 309, Ohio 235 and Ohio 67 back to Ohio 117. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 309/Elida Road between Pioneer Road and Eastowne Road will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Allen County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

U.S. 30/Ohio 309 near Delphos may be restricted to one lane at times through the work zone for culvert work. Work is expected to be completed mid June. Work is being performed by Platinum Painting, Boardman.

Defiance County

 

Ohio 18 in the city of Defiance just east of the Ohio 15 (Ottawa Avenue) and Ohio 18 (East Second Street) intersection closed June 9 for two months for culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 281 and U.S. 24 back to Ohio 15/18. Traffic may also detour to Ohio 15/18 to Ohio 66, U.S. 24, to Ohio 281 back to Ohio 18. Work is being performed by Sand Ridge Excavating, Cloverdale.

 

Ohio 2 from just north of Hicksville to just west of Farmer will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for sealing of pavement cracks. Work is being performed by the Defiance County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Hancock County

 

U.S. 224 interchange at Interstate 75 reconstruction, Findlay

 

The U.S. 224 interchange with Interstate 75, Findlay, is currently being reconstructed. The project began in February and is expected to be completed late this fall. Work is being performed by Miller Brothers Construction, Archbold.

 

The following traffic impacts related to the reconstruction are in effect or will occur in the upcoming weeks:

 

Interstate 75

 

- Both the northbound and southbound lanes are narrowed and shifted approaching the U.S. 224 interchange.

 

- Lane restrictions will continue both northbound and southbound for overhead work at the bridge. Restrictions will occur between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.

 

U.S. 224

 

-Short-term, daytime lane closures should be expected throughout the week. Traffic maintained with flaggers.

-Traffic on the bridge over Interstate 75, Findlay, is traveling on the north half of the bridge, one lane in each direction with no turn lanes. All ramps at the interchange are currently open.

 

-Motorists are cautioned to watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting at various locations throughout the work zone on U.S. 224 and along the interchange ramps.

Ohio 613 approximately a mile and a half west of Van Buren between Township Road 142 and County Road 140 will be closed for the majority of the week of June 16 for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 235, Ohio 18 to Interstate 75 back to Ohio 613. Work is being performed by the Hancock County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

U.S. 224 on the east side of Findlay between Plaza Road (Best Buy) and County Road 236 is occasionally restricted to one lane through the work zone during a traffic signal upgrade project. The new and upgraded signals are now in operation. Work on pavement striping is expected to continue during the week. Work is being performed by Perram Electric, Wadsworth.

 

Ohio 568 between Blanchard Avenue in Findlay to County Road 180 is longer restricted for pavement repair and resurfacing. The project is temporarily suspended to allow adjoining work by the city of Findlay to take place. The project will resume in September. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.

 

Ohio 330 from Ohio 15 to Vanlue High School pavement repair and resurfacing is complete.

 

Ohio 15 between U.S. 23 in Carey to Ohio 37 in Findlay is restricted to one lane through the work zone for resurfacing. Work is occurring in both the eastbound and westbound direction and during daytime hours. Work is expected to complete by the end of the month. Work is being performed by Kokosing, Fredericksburg.

 

Hardin County


Ohio 235
in the village of Ada is now open.

U.S. 68 from the Kenton corporation limit to the Logan County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. The project is expected to continue through June. Work is being performed by the Shelly Co., Findlay.

                                                                                                                                    

Paulding County

 

U.S. 127 in the village of Latty just south of County Road 92 will close for five days beginning June 23 for a railroad crossing repair. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 114, Ohio 637, and Ohio 613 back to U.S. 127.

 

Ohio 637 just south of Ohio 613 east of Broughton closed June 9 for approximately five days for railroad crossing repair. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 114, U.S. 127 and Ohio 613 back to Ohio 637. Work is being performed by Roadsafe Traffic.

 

Pavement repair will be done at the following locations. Work is expected to continue through mid week with traffic maintained through the work zone. Work is being performed by the combined forces of the Paulding, Van Wert, Putnam and Defiance County ODOT maintenance garages:

 

-Ohio 111 west of Paulding

-Ohio 613 west of U.S. 127 to the Indiana line

-Ohio 49 south of Payne

-Ohio 114 east of U.S. 127

 

Putnam County

 

Ohio 115 just north of the Allen County line, south of Vaughnsville will close the week of June 16 for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 65, Ohio 12 back to Ohio 115. Work is being performed by the Putnam County ODOT maintenance garage.

 

Ohio 634 between Ft. Jennings and Continental is reduced to one lane through the work zone for pavement resurfacing. The project will continue through June. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.

 

Van Wert County

 

Ohio 49 from U.S. 224 to Willshire will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage.

U.S. 224 from Van Wert to the Indiana line will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repair. Work is being performed by the Van Wert County ODOT maintenance garage

 

Wyandot County

 

Ohio 53 from the west corporation limit of the city of Upper Sandusky to Ohio 67, and from the courthouse in the city north to the Ohio 53/67 split will be reduced to one lane through the work zone beginning the week of June 16 for pavement repair and resurfacing. Work on curb ramps within the city limits will begin Friday, June 13 and will restrict traffic through the work zone. The project will continue until mid July. Work is being performed by Kokosing, Fredericksburg.
