Highway Construction
Week of September 5, 2016

The following is work scheduled to occur in the coming week on state highways within the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 which includes the counties of Allen, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Wyandot. **Note: No work will take place over the Labor Day holiday.**

Allen County
 
Interstate 75 from the Auglaize County line to Fourth Street, through Lima and Allen County, will have occasional lane closures throughout the year during the final year of the reconstruction of the interstate. Current and upcoming impacts to traffic are as follows:

  • Nighttime paving of the final course of asphalt, berm work and striping throughout the entire project area began August 22 and will continue until mid September.
    • Lane restrictions both northbound and southbound will occur from 7 p.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
    • Construction trucks will be entering and exiting frequently throughout the project area during the next several weeks.
    • Posted speed through the work zone will be lowered while work is taking place.
    • By Friday, September 1 at noon, all lanes on Interstate 75 through the project area will be open to traffic. Paving operations and restrictions will resume Tuesday evening following the holiday.

  • Interchange ramps throughout the project will be closed briefly in the coming weeks during nighttime hours while the paving operation takes place.

  • Traffic patterns on Ohio 65 beneath Interstate 75 will continue to shift for the next few weeks during completion of the concrete pavement.

 Additional Allen County projects:
 
Ohio 65 south of Fourth Street will close Tuesday for approximately two days for a water valve repair. The project is being administered by the city of Lima.
 
U.S. 30 ramps at Fifth Street, Delphos, will be restricted but will remain open during pavement repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 117 intersection with Ohio 198 will be restricted through the work zone during pavement repairs. Work is being performed by the ODOT Allen County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 309 (Elida Road) from Eastown Road to U.S. 30, including the village of Elida, is restricted for widening, curb and gutter installation, drainage improvements and resurfacing. The project will continue through the fall. Work is being performed by VTF Excavation LLC, Celina.
 
The following impacts are occurring or upcoming. Traffic patterns will change frequently:
 
o   Paving from Elida to U.S. 30, Delphos, is complete. Pavement striping will continue during the week.
o   Ohio 309 from Greenlawn Avenue to Eastown Road is maintained with two lanes westbound and one eastbound. The turn lane is maintained as well.
§  Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction at various locations through this area for drainage installation. The restrictions will be in place from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Traffic delays should be expected.
§  Traffic patterns will change frequently through this section.
§  No traffic restrictions will be in place over the Labor Day holiday. Traffic restrictions will resume on Tuesday of the week.
 
Ohio 117 and Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) intersection realignment and widening project and construction of left-turn lanes on Ohio 117 began June 30. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. The following impacts to traffic are occurring or upcoming:
·       Wapak Road at the intersection of Ohio 117 is now open.
  • Ohio 501 (Wapak Road) south of Ohio 117 is now open.
  • Daytime lane closures are occurring on Ohio 117 for roadway widening work. Traffic is maintained.
 
Defiance County
 
U.S. 24 over Krouse Road will be reduced to one lane through the work zone beginning August 31 for a slope and shoulder repair project. The project will continue until late fall. Work is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
 
U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.
 
Upcoming closures related to the project are currently scheduled as follows:

·       U.S. 127 over U.S. 24 near Cecil is now open.

·       U.S. 127 from the interchange at U.S. 24 to a few hundred feet to the south is now open.

·       Ramp closures at the following locations have been completed:
o   Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, U.S. 24 westbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Baltimore Street (County Road 424)

·       U.S. 127 from the interchange at U.S. 24 to a few hundred feet to the north closed August 29 for approximately seven days for pavement repair. All ramps at the interchange remain open.
o   Traffic detoured onto U.S. 24 to Ohio 49 to County Road 424 back to U.S. 127

·       Ramp closures at the following locations will begin Tuesday, September 6 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, September 12 at 6 a.m.:
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic detoured to the Ohio 281 interchange and back
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 66
§  Traffic detoured to the Ohio 281 interchange and back

·       Weekend ramp closures at the following locations will begin Friday, September 16 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, September 19 at 6 a.m.:
o   Ohio 281 (Domersville Road) entrance ramp to U.S. 24 westbound
§  Traffic detoured to Elliott Road to the Ohio 66 interchange back to U.S. 24
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 281 (Domersville Road)
§  Traffic detoured to the U.S. 6 interchange and back

·       Weekend ramps closures at the following locations were delayed due to weather and will now begin Friday, September 21 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, September 26 at 6 a.m.:
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18, Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange.
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Hancock County
Ohio 12 eastbound (Fostoria Avenue) from Tiffin Avenue to Bright Road, Findlay, will be closed during daytime hours only, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning September 6 for installation of a storm sewer line. The project will continue for approximately two months. The project is being administered by the city of Findlay.
Ohio 12 from Findlay to Arcadia, and from the southwest side of Fostoria to the Seneca County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project which will begin September 6. The project will continue for two months. Work is being performed by M&B Ashpalt, Old Fort.
Interstate 75 from just south of Ohio 235 north of Bluffton to just south of the County Road 60 overhead near Rawson will have no lane restrictions over the Labor Day holiday for a joint repair and resurfacing project. Restrictions will resume on Tuesday at which time traffic will be reduced to one lane, both northbound and southbound. The project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Shelly Co., Findlay.
 
The following closures are related to the project:
·       The southbound rest area will close September 6 for 10 days.
·       The northbound rest area will close September 8 for 10 days.

U.S. 30 ramps at U.S. 68 and Ohio 37 in Hancock County, and County Road 330 in Wyandot County will be closed for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Mansfield. The ramps will be affected according to the following schedule:
·       All ramps at the U.S. 68 and Ohio 37 interchange are now open.
·       All ramps at the County Road 330 interchange closed August 25 for seven days. The ramps are expected to reopen to traffic before the beginning of the week.
o   Traffic detoured onto County Road 330 to Ohio 37 back to U.S. 30.
 
Interstate 75 between Perrysburg and County Road 99 north of Findlay will have the following restrictions through the fall during reconstruction and widening:
 
·       Through November, overnight lane restrictions, generally from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., are possible on I-75 between the I-75/I-475 interchange in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. Through December, 11-foot lane width restrictions are in place on I-75 between U.S. 20 in Perrysburg and County Road 99 in Hancock County. 

·       Through December, Township Road 101 in Hancock County, between County Road 220 and Township Road 142, is closed for bridge work over I-75. 
 
Hardin County

Ohio 31 at Letson Avenue at the south end of the city of Kenton will close September 12 for 45 days for an intersection and sewer upgrade project. Traffic detoured onto U.S. 68, Ohio 273, Ohio 292 and Ohio 47 back to Ohio 31. Work is being performed by the Shelly Company, Findlay, for the city of Kenton.
 
Paulding County
 
Safe Routes to School project which includes construction of a sidewalk along the north side of Canal Road between Kroos Drive and Harrmann Road, and also along the west side of Harrmann Road between Canal Road and the entrance to the Antwerp School will begin September 19. The project also includes new curbs, curb ramps, signage and crosswalk markings. The project is not expected to have a significant impact to traffic. The project will continue until late October. Work on the project is being performed by Vernon Nagel Construction, Napoleon.
 
U.S. 127 from Jackson Street to Garfield Avenue, and Ohio 111 from Cherry Street to U.S. 127 in the village of Paulding will be restricted for a resurfacing project beginning in late September. Once under way the project will continue until late October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.

U.S. 24 throughout Defiance and Paulding County is restricted both eastbound and westbound at various locations throughout the corridor during repair of the concrete pavement. The project will require ramp closures at the interchanges. Work will continue through late summer. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Columbus.

·       Weekend ramp closures at the following locations will begin Friday, September 16 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, September 19 at 6 a.m.:
o   Ohio 281 (Domersville Road) entrance ramp to U.S. 24 westbound
§  Traffic detoured to Elliott Road to the Ohio 66 interchange back to U.S. 24
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 281 (Domersville Road)
§  Traffic detoured to the U.S. 6 interchange and back

·       Weekend ramps closures at the following locations were delayed due to weather and will now begin Friday, September 21 at 6 p.m. and continue until Monday, September 26 at 6 a.m.:
o   U.S. 24 eastbound exit ramp to Ohio 15/18, Ohio 15/18 entrance ramp to westbound U.S. 24
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 66 interchange.
o   Ohio 66 entrance ramp to eastbound U.S. 24, westbound U.S. 24 exit ramp to Ohio 66.
§  Traffic will be detoured onto U.S. 24 to the Ohio 15/18 interchange and back.
Putnam County

Ohio 108 southbound at Ohio 15 will close September 6 for four days for a culvert replacement. Southbound traffic detoured onto Ohio 613 and Ohio 15 back to Ohio 108. Northbound traffic will be maintained. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 15 between the village of Ottawa and the Defiance County line, and Ohio 634 between the village of Continental and Ohio 15 is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. The project will continue through mid October. Work is being performed by Gerken Paving, Napoleon.
 
Ohio 66 between T-O and T-N closure has been delayed and will now close September 12 for five days for a culvert replacement. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 66, U.S. 224, Ohio 637 and Ohio 114 back to Ohio 66. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 15 just west of Ohio 108 is now open following a culvert replacement.
 
Ohio 696 between Ohio 12 and the Allen County line will be restricted with traffic maintained for a drainage repair. Work is being performed by the ODOT Putnam County maintenance garage.
 
Ohio 65 from Columbus Grove to Leipsic, excluding the village of Ottawa, and from the village of Leipsic to the village of Ottawa is occasionally restricted to one lane through the work zone for finish work relating to a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Ohio 12 through the village of Columbus Grove is restricted to one lane through the work zone for a resurfacing project. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton.
 
Van Wert County
 
U.S. 33 under Mercer Road closed August 29 for approximately five days for a culvert replacement. The road is expected to reopen to traffic prior to the Labor Day holiday. Traffic detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118 back to U.S. 33. Work is being performed by the ODOT Van Wert County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 127 (Washington Street) between Fox Road and Ervin Road in the city of Van Wert closed April 11 for reconstruction and widening of the road. Access to local businesses is maintained. Traffic is detoured onto Ohio 81, Ohio 118, Ervin Road/Van Wert-Decatur Road, U.S. 224 and U.S. 30 back to U.S. 127. The closure will remain in place until fall. Work is being performed by Helms & Sons Excavating, Findlay.
·       The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Ervin Road intersection has been reopened.
  • The U.S. 127 (Washington St.) and Fox Road/Ohio 116 intersection is scheduled to close on September 7th for 40 days. Access to residences and businesses on Washington St. north of Fox Road will be available from the north via Ervin Road.
 
Wyandot County
 
Ohio 294 from Harpster to the Crawford County line will be reduced to one lane through the work zone for a chip and seal project. Work is being performed by the ODOT Wyandot County maintenance garage.
 
U.S. 30 ramps at U.S. 68 and Ohio 37 in Hancock County, and County Road 330 in Wyandot County will be closed for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Work is being performed by Kokosing Construction, Mansfield. The ramps will be affected according to the following schedule:
·       All ramps at the Ohio 37 interchange are now open.
·       All ramps at the County Road 330 interchange closed August 25 for seven days. The ramps are expected to reopen before the beginning of the week.
o   Traffic detoured onto County Road 330 to Ohio 37 back to U.S. 30.

Ohio 37 between County Road 96 and Ohio 67 closed on August 1 for approximately 30 days for a culvert replacement. The route is expected to reopen before the beginning of the week. Traffic will be detoured onto Ohio 67, Ohio 294 and back to Ohio 37. Work is being performed by Stevens Engineers & Constructors, Inc.
 
U.S. 30 both eastbound and westbound just west of County Road 128 is no longer restricted following a culvert replacement.
·       County Road 128 both on the north and south side of U.S. 30 is now open.
