*New Traffic Pattern*
ODOT has entered the next phase of work on the Interstate 475/Central Avenue interchange project. In order to build the new Central Avenue bridge and ramps, ODOT moved traffic to temporary on and off ramps at the Interstate 475 exit and entrance ramps to Central Avenue. The temporary ramps have a different geometric curve requiring slower speeds but meet state and federal standards. The two "Central Avenue Temporary Ramps" documents illustrate the new design. Drivers will need to remember:
1. Slow down: Speed limits will be reduced to 25mph on the ramps.
2. This configuration is temporary during the project. Traffic is expected to remain on the ramps through the fall of 2016.
In August 2015, ODOT began a two year project to reconstruct the Central Avenue interchange at I-475. Millers Bros. Const. Inc. is the prime contractor for this $38.9 million project. ODOT will build a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), click the link to find out more information on what a SPUI is.
ODOT is reconstructing the new bridge and ramps in the infield of the existing cloverleaf and widening I-475 from Dorr Street to the I-475/US 23 systems interchange.
Est. Start: August 2015
Est. End: Summer 2017
