I-475/US 23 Interchange Safety Project
The I-475/US 23 Interchange Safety project, designed to improve safety, will correct the traffic weave from westbound I-475 to southbound I-475/US 23 by building a separate ramp with access to Central Avenue. The project will also tie into capacity improvements following completion of the Central Avenue interchange upgrade project, which will start construction in 2015. Mosser Construction, Inc. will build this two year $14 Million project.
Effective Monday, June 16, through December 2015, shoulder and overnight lane restrictions, 8pm to 6am, are possible at the interchange of I-475/US 23 from Central Avenue to N. Holland Sylvania Road. Additional closures and restrictions will be announced. Project complete: December 2015. All work is weather permitting.
Please use caution when traveling through this work zone. To build up embankment, the contractor will be hauling over 300,000 cubic yards of dirt, at a rate of 40 trucks per hour! To improve your drive most of the dirt will be delivered overnight.
Coming soon: More info on work zone speed limits, Blossman Road impact, upcoming detours and how this project will tie into the upcoming Central Avenue interchange project.
