The Ohio Department of Transportation is now constructing the I-475 Salisbury/Dussel Interchange project. This project will upgrade the interchange at I-475 and widen portions of Salisbury Road and Dussel Drive. Construction will impact many businesses in Maumee, especially in the Arrowhead Park and Briarfield business districts. Access to all businesses will be maintained during the project.
Work on this major project will involve the following improvements:
Interstate 475 Interchange Reconfiguration - Replacing the bridge over I-475. This will include the addition of two interchange loop ramps, lighting and traffic signals upgrades.
Salisbury Road and Dussel Drive - Strayer Road to the old Maumee firehouse will be widened to six lanes as well as turn lanes.
Cost: $24.2 Million
Contractor: Miller Bros. Const. Inc. of Archbold, Ohio
Construction Start Date: May 2009
Estimated Completion Date: November of 2011.
Important Construction Dates
Salisbury Road Drainage Work (West of Briafield Blvd): Estimated June 2009 Start
Traffic Shift to southbound lanes: Estimated July 2009 Start
Traffic Shift to northbound lanes: Estimated July 2010 Start
There will be a closure of the ramp from eastbound Salisbury Road to northbound I-475. Length and duration of this closure TBA. Traffic on all other ramps to and from I-475 will be maintained. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on I-475. Short-term intermittent lane and shoulder restrictions are possible on I-475/US23 throughout the project. Access to all businesses will be maintained during the project. Updates will be provided as information becomes available to ODOT.
